Just had this problem start today but no matter what I do on my 2016 Tundra I can't fill the gas. I've tried 3 different pumps/stations so it's not a station issue. Problem is when I go to fill the pump auto shuts off after 1-2 sec. I've tried repositioning things as well as going slower (had to do this in the past a few times) and no luck. I checked and there is nothing blocking the filler neck. Removed the rubber hose that connects to filler and put a snake through it to make sure.

Any ideas what could be wrong? I tried search and didn't find anything. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Brian

The only time I’ve had this issue I found I had to really shove the gas nozzle in there. Other than that you may have another problem. Are you still under warranty? If so just take it in.

A little of this and a little of that.
Sounds like you've tried what I would have done. I'd take it to the dealer next to see what up.

Did you try and fill it with a 5 gallon gas can?

I have this problem, started yesterday trying to fill up before I drive 225 home. Can’t fill up, jammed it in and held it right and gas poured back out. Can’t see any blockage. What was the outcome? 2016 Platinum, scheduled service tomorrow since no appointments open. Missing 2 days of work.

Yep, probably your roll-over protection whatever-it’s-called (in the top of your tank) is stuck. Only official fix is to replace the tank— take it to a dealer if it’s under warranty. If not, you can drop the tank and pull out the part that’s stuck... but then you’ll give up that rollover safeguard (stops gas leaking out if you roll the truck). There are several threads on here, speaking to both solutions.

I wonder if you can disconnect the evap lime coming from the tank and then get an air hose with a rag wrapped around it to send some compressed air through the filler neck. I've done this alot to purge air out of lines in diesels. I figure enough air pressure will either open the valve or blow the filler hose off, either way I'd try it. I think it's worth a shot

I tried that w/o success. I'm not sayin don't try it, just that it didn't work for me. Kind of a PITA but I dropped the (near empty) tank, removed the plumbing from the top of the tank and popped the valve open w/ a long screw driver. The valve is about 6-7" down inside the tank. I had no faith this would be the end of the problem so I disabled the valve. DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend disabling the valve, it's just what I did.
