So I just recently installed 4 new door speakers in my Tundra. I went with Kenwood because they got good reviews. After a day of having them I am not satisfied. Either I installed them wrong which is unlikely or something isn't right. The speakers are quiet and there is almost no bass. I have experience with car audio but always involves aftermarket headunits. Is this the result of the factory radio not putting out enough for the speakers? Right now I have a Kenwood DMX905S sitting in my cart. I just wanna do my research before I jump the gun

You went from 2 to 4 ohms of resistance. So you've lost power unfortunately the stock headunit just cant push them to get decent bass. I just did a speaker and sub upgrade on my truck but I have the JBL system, which has enough power to drive a decent 10" sub, so mine sounds ok, but the bass from the doors is greatly diminished since replacing them. I would say get the headunit. I just bought the ddx9902s used for $200 and can't wait to get it installed, its gonna make all the difference in the world

Should I get the Datalink Maestro thing? The only thing I lose in my headunit is the ability to set the auto lock timer and the lights

I'm going to order one for mt new head unit. I don't want to lose any functions and you can get them cheap enough with a Toyota harness.

I went ahead and just ordered it. I knew one day I was going to do it and now would be the time.
