    Hello there,

Here is my goal with my 1st Gen. It has a mostly solid bed but rusted at the bolt on points. I have a TC (picture in new member section) a Skamper 080s and I want to build a flat bed for it. Yes, I have fabrication experience but no I not built a flat bed before, but have built trailers. Nonetheless, I want to extend the bed 13" so that TC will fit and have room and not extend off the normal 6.5ft bed.

First, anyone have any suggestions or things to worry about here, should I box the frame if I am doing this, should I extend the frame rails or just build the box over the rails and not worry about the 13" is extends over teh stock rails? Second, has anyone on the forum extended a flat bed to nearly 8ft? I have searched and was unable to find anyone that did this but did find some nice builds that I will use as inspiration.

THanks for any help, once I get the design drawn on sketchup I will show everyone my ideas in a visual. Anything off the top of your heads would be very helpful. Thanks.

Nope, but I am going to find out when the weather warms up as I bought my truck with the plan of making a custom flatbed for it.

My plan is folding bed extension. I'm going to actually shorten the truck as much as possible but have a section of the floor that flips out a couple more feet to make an extension when needed and folds flush when not needed.

That is a great idea, or some kind of bolted extension to take on and off when needed. Need to give this some thought. I am starting to design as we speak. Great minds think alike, lets keep bouncing ideas off each other.
