3-1/2 inch cedar pickets for shutters
6x6x8 cedar post for the porch
    Olympic cedar Seleant

    Before and after

I will get some better pics of the front on a clear morning I am off. In the evening the front of the house is shaded.

I like it a lot and feel it added some curb appeal.

Looks great!!! Much better than the cheap builder spec stuff that was there.

Now you need to plant some bushes and flowers.

Wow what a difference. Looks great man!
At first I thought the second pic was a joke lol, like a "move that shed" type of reveal, then I realized its the back of the house.

Slate will be nice. I wanted to do that on my steps but ended up taking the cheap and easy way out and just using some concrete stain to freshen up the look. Not the same obvi but gave an updated look

    Flux capacitor!
Good job! I’m not sure if you did this already or not. Did you happen to install a base plate below the cedar post? This helps keep the wood elevated off the concrete and prevents it from rotting out over time. Everything looks good!

Also what's up with that concrete pad thing in your backyard, near the deck? Has a roof vent whirly-gig on it, bugging the crap out of me as I can't figure out what it is.

Makes sense, didn't see that he was in Oklahoma at first. At first I was like is that a bomb shelter???

We get tornadoes here quite a bit in Tennessee, but they're usually small/isolated, F1/F2 type of deals that only touch down for a mile or two. Nothing like those monster storms in OK. I've always wondered why houses in OK don't have basements, I know in my part of TN they aren't common either unless your house is built into the side of a hill.

Yup its a storm shelter/ammo dump/zombie response HQ or whatever my nieces and nephews want it to be when they visit, LOL.

Only used it once for a tornado, it was heading right for me, then about a 1/4 mile it turned to the north.

You see a few basements out here, but Oklahoma soil does not work well with basements, from what I have been told, but probably few folks know how to actually build one.

nice job. the cedar matches the shingles much better than the previous color. the cedar should hold its color well with the sealant on it. a couple shrubs next to those front windows sounds like the next step to me....

best break out that shovel and work boots now cause you got a long day ahead of you. i don't know how you're gonna find time to build the pergola too.

Damn man, diy projects just snowball don't they?

Added a few plants to the front, a couple dwarf alberta spruces and some mums in cedar planters.

That looks really good. Helps accent the cedar shutters and post.

What way does the front of your house face??? If its a northernish or easternish exposure(aka no hot midday-afternoon sun), I'd recommend you plant some azaleas under the windows. That's what I have at my house, they don't grow too tall, the blooms in the spring are beautiful, and they are pretty damn hardy once you get them established.
