Has anyone purchased a Toyota Factory Bumper to Bumper Extended warranty on their Tundra and if so how much did you pay?

Thanks for responses...would those who did purchase one recommend it or just skip it?

Too early for me to tell, but I do enjoy a peace of mind.

I just purchased my truck about 1 1/2 months ago, along with the warranty. I think I am throwing away the money based on what everyone on this forum says about the reliability of the truck. I thought about cancelling it, Toyota will pro-rate the unused portion back to you, but my wife is superstitious and thinks we'll be inviting a breakdown.

Can't put my hands on documents to confirm, however, pretty certain: 8/80/$0 $1,100

I have a 2014 w/20k miles. Still under the standard bumper to bumper. The fact I tow a 7k camper influenced my decision to purchase the warranty. One dealer quoted me over $2k for the same plan, so I felt $1,100 was a deal.

I don't have the extended warranty but am thinking about getting one. My son recently purchased a new Tacoma and during his meeting with the finance guy (who also drives a Tundra), he showed us a recent repair done under his extended warranty (don't remember what is was for), but if that repair had been done outside of a warranty, it would have cost ~$2,000. Extended warranty was $1,250. My last truck (non-Toyota) had lots of repairs / recalls / TSBs during the 2 ½ years of ownership, so peace of mind is important to me...

My dealership presented it to me at the time of purchase. But they didn't show me the price, instead they only showed me the monthly cost. Quickly doing some math in my head, realized that they were trying to bend me over in a very bad way. (I'm talking 3-5,000 of cost over 6 yrs)

I didn't buy mine at time of purchase on my Tundra because it essentially doubles up coverage of your first 36,000 miles, which is nuts. I purchased a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper on my 4Runner and then traded it at 40,000 miles. I figured id only used 4,000 miles of 64,000 mile extension or about 7% of warranty but they only refunded me 60% saying I had used 40% of it up....I fought them for weeks but finally gave up since "contract language" says it starts at time of purchase...ridiculous.

I will most likely wait until just before my initial warranty runs out for the reason you mentioned. Finance guy said I can add it any time before the initial warranty runs out.

yes, I have 200 miles left under factory warranty and was just quoted $1,485.00 Bumper to Bumper, zero deductible for additional 64,000 miles or 4 years (100k total). Piece of mind for next 3-4 years may be worth that.

You can wait till right before you're original warranty expires to buy the extended one.

Also you can shop around getting quotes. On my last Lexus I bought in California. I was getting offers like 2500 for 2 years from Lexus.

I found a guy in Oklahoma who could sell the same warranty for 1200.

Not sure if you can still buy warranties out of state.

I read somewhere recently that you have to buy local now. They stopped selling them online.

Just to make sure we are all talking about apples to apples, there is a difference between buying a Toyota Care warranty and an independent warranty. I would put a premium on the Toyota Care warranty. Independent warranties involve another party (another middleman paperpusher) that can get in the way or be an annoyance when you are trying to get your car repaired.

Good point. I will NOT consider an independent warranty - had one of those before and it was a mess. I was talking about Toyota Care. Thanks!

Yep...w/ the super charger I needed the piece of mind...7/120 Toyota Platinum for me...if it "pops" before 120K, not my problem...after 120K, who cares...I'll find a used engine and slap it in...
