Ok, Troy's process is super smooth! Go to his website, request a price, he sends you an email within a day with the price list and requirements if you want to move forward. I submitted the requirements via email and he called me later that day to discuss any questions I might have had and for payment.

Troy is great, the website, a complete turd imo. Usually a 404 error, and as I write this message I checked it again…under construction. Email is much better to contact him imo.

Another vote of confidence for Troy, he is very responsive and made the process super easy for me. Saved me a ton of money vice what the dealer had offered, and the dealer was using the pressure tactics of once you walk out the door we can’t sell you this.

For those in California, I just purchased a 10yr/125k Platinum VSA warranty through Spencer at Oroville Toyota.
He's extremely responsive and got me set up in no time.

I believe that I have seen posts on this thread that contradict each other so I'm not sure. But Troy has helped a lot of us and it only takes a phone call to find out.

Got my paper work a week after payment. Man... my dealer is going to be mad when they see my paperwork for extended warranty and see I bought it from Toyota of Greenfield and the price.

I'm surprised dealers aren't trying to go after these guys for selling it for so cheap.

they do. its when forums post price matrix's that gets them in trouble and are tied to the person. the matrix is toyota propietery info and toyota will go after a dealer when someone other dealer complains.

ususally toyota will ban the dealer from selling out of state for xx years. jerry had this happen to him at least once that i know of back when i was heavy into the tacoma forums about a decade or more ago.

thats why we push people to trade the matrix via PM or just an individual plan line.

its just a matter of perception. the dealers jacking the price dont sell as many or make a killing per sale but the others selling lower make more money by volume.

    ie:

easier to sell 100 @ 200-300 profit or sell 10 @ 1000-2000 profit. easier to spread your profit over 100 sales than trying to make any money just getting to 10 sometimes.

Makes sense. I understand selling volume instead of trying to make the most out of each deal. I just know how dealers are when it comes to pinning two or more dealers against each other over car deals. They don't like it and are pretty grumpy about it. That being said I know the finance managers are very pushy with the extended warranty when you're in finance. I think it's great this is an option I was more curious if these people selling low priced warranties get a lot of flack from other finance managers.

I know I've read about people taking their vehicle into the dealership they didn't buy the extended warranty from and get a cold shoulder by the service advisor. Obviously they shouldn't as they have to understand that people move and sometimes your vehicle needs warranty work when you're out of state. I just know that a large portion of dealership employees can be petty.
