Anyone thinking of getting rid of the OEM muffler and single exhaust outlet for an aftermarket catback dual exhaust system with a more aggressive sounding muffler.

I'll be the first to recommend @dirtydeeds

Dirty Deeds Industries - Performance Without Drone

Products Archive - Performance Without Drone (dirtydeedsindustries.com)

The absolute BEST aftermarket exhaust system for a Tundra.
It is literally bolt on, remove the stock muffler, install Dirty Deeds BAM.

10+ BAMufflers Budget Installation Instructions - YouTube

The length of the muffler determines how loud you want it.
Most of install his resonator, some don't.
The rez will help get rid of drone.
The rex install is at the 10-minute mark in the video.

Give Kieth a call, during business hours.

I've had 2 of them, about to buy another one.

Basically, I'm asking if anyone will be thinking of upgrading the exhaust system on the 2022 Tundra such as a catback exhaust system with a more aggressive sounding muffler and dual exhaust in place of the OEM mufler and single exhaust

My bad, but the 22 just came out, not sure there is any mods in the aftermarket at this time. I’m guessing

I’m sure people will do it, but it’s never going to sound great in my opinion. Still excited to hear how they will sound though. You can listen to some exhaust clips from the Lexus LS500, same engine I believe. Its just not the right sound for a truck. If I were to get a 22 I think I’d just enjoy the peace and quiet with the extra power cause I wouldn’t feel like I was missing anything. Just crank up the synthesized V8 sounds they pump through the speakers!

I've listened to some clips with the magnaflow and borla mufflers on the 2021 Ford F150 with the tt 3.5 V6 and it sounded pretty good for a V6 (not as good as V8)

My take; dress the exhaust anyway you like, it's still a V6. Lots of experience here with exhaust for my 17 4Runner TRD Pro. Have run several; Stock, 3" URD with Magnaflow Muffler and resonator-very loud with drone and loss of low-end torque. Took a hit on MPG across the board. Magna Flow Overland-nice system and fit. Good performance-just got louder as it aged and started to drone. Borla Sport Cat-Back: Best of all of them- Extremely well made and fit. Dropped the second set of CATs and installed non-restricting Y-pipe (Still has two CATS and meets PA Inspection). Run an 18" resonator in front of the muffler. Best sound-no drone-slight noise increase with slight MPG Increase on the road only. If you want a V8 sound-order a truck with a V8.

I’m sure Keith @dirtydeeds will have some input. He is the man, but with v6 I’m assuming it’s gonna sound like the fast and the furious no matter what you do….

I would just leave it alone honestly, Keith is great and all and love me some borla (hehe)

but damn, its 3.4 in displacement, anything that makes it louder will just sound like a rice burner.

I wouldn't want to call anymore attention to it that it already has, lol.

I'm sorry, I missed the 2022 as well.

^ I agree with these two guys.
Trying to man up a V6 on a full-sized pickup?
Might as well put a fast and furious fart can on it and do some drifting..

I laugh at my neighbor's Ford F-150 eco boost V6 vroom every time he leaves his house.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Not to beat a dead horse here, but a V6 is always going to sound like a V6: industrial, soulless, and thrashy.

Toyota should have given us an inline 6, seems there’s enough room for one, and it could have sounded glorious.

delete the cats and enjoy the improved fuel economy? agree with the others, not much you can do for sound on a tt v6. Can you make it louder, sure...but you'd probably wish you didn't if you're hoping for a v8 sound track.

Just pick a muffler you like and have a shop swap it in. Have them work flanges in so that if you hate it you can go back to stock.

I'm partial to Spintech mufflers myself. I've heard them on lots of V8s and even a few 4 cylinder sounding great. However, a budy wanted to throw duals on a V6 F150 (insert wtf here). We threw them on true dual style like he wanted and it sounded like a damn tractor. We added an H pipe ahead of the mufflers and it smoothed out but still wasn't sounding good. Eventually he agreed to use the stock piping and swap the muffler for a single style exhaust. That sounded the best, but still wasn't the sound you expect to hear from a fully caged long travel full size truck.

I agree with others, the V6 won't give the kind of sound you really want or expect, especially if you go duals. Keep it simple and cheap, or wait for the aftermarket to catch up and buy something proven. I still laugh when I hear newer Fords getting on the skinny with V6s, but if it sounds good to the owner that's what matters.

Yep turbo 3.4 liters just need to be quiet no body wants to hear that

I’d just put some toyo at3’s on it and enjoy a little tire whine…

from the TFL video it registers 62.7 db towing.

He says " if they got rid of the augmented sound it would be even quieter"

    towing test sound level.jpg

Maybe instead of changing out the exhaust a software update can give the louder sound if that is what you are looking for.

They’ve resorted to pumping synthesized V8 sounds into the cab to make you feel like Dom Toretto in your V6 tundra.

Besides the norm , lift, tires, body armor, lights, and stereo. I really want to find out how much more boost these puppys can take and hope for around 600whp on the non hybrid on stock internals. For exhaust I'll probably do a custom cat back made of some magnaflow mufflers with V band clamps.

this from another source the Motortrend review.

    https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2022-toyota-tundra-trd-pro-first-drive-review/

    Interior Comfort And Technology
For 2022 the Tundra TRD Pro package is based on the Limited trim, moving up from the SR5 for the previous generation. This brings more available technology and comfortable SofTex seating surfaces. We found the interior to be comfortable, enjoyed the new 14-inch infotainment screen, and didn't find the bold red accents of the TRD Pro to be overpowering. The interior is quiet going down the highway, and everything we needed was within easy reach of the driver seat. If we had any complaints, there would be two. First, the fake engine noise. We heard it, and Toyota confirmed it: Limited trims and above feature an "augmented" engine noise pumped through the speakers. We drove the SR5 trim, as well, and would gladly have the "fake" engine noise shut off, as it's not needed. Lastly, and this is one that probably needs to be experienced, the shape of the new windshield makes it so that when you're the first vehicle at a light it's difficult to see what's above the truck. The windshield dips in such a way at the top center that seeing the traffic lights becomes a challenge. Driving a current-generation 2020 Tundra confirmed that this is indeed a product of the new body style. This might be personal preference, but we found it worth mentioning.

Entertaining…I’m probably just interested in the TRD pros twin tip exhaust myself (not sure what other difference there are).

I am kinda relishing in the quiet…though my neighbors 2020 Platinum CreMax with his TRD twin exhaust serves as a reminder of what I am missing every morning.

I had BAMuffler on my 2019 and I loved that one. Very quiet in the cab for the kids but gets good tone when you get on it. Hoping something decent will come out that's similar but I'm not expecting much. Will miss that v8 sound!

Have you seen the stock muffler on these trucks? They are HUGE!
