So I've tried everything to fix this I think. Is there anything I've missed before taking it to the dealership and hoping its covered under my warranty.

My HU wont get past this screen when I start my truck up.

I've checked the radio fuse, it was fine.
I've removed the SD card, started the truck, didnt change anything. Reinserted SD card, started truck, no fix.
Held the power button down on the unit. Turns off the screen. Turns back on and stays on the same screen.
Disconnected the battery for 45 minutes for hard reset. Still didnt work.

Have I missed anything that could fix this? Backup camera still works without issue.

I was driving home the other day listening to a podcast on my phone. Sound just stopped then as I was pulling into my driveway, the system reset and stayed on this screen.

    Thanks in advance!

Toyota cover radios for 3yr/36k miles. Unless you have a good extended warranty.

Yeah I'm outside of that warranty. I bought an extended warranty but not sure if its covered. If I have to pay full price for a new one I think I'm just going to go with the 12" android HU

I was having issues with mine randomly rebooting when my phone was hooked up via bluetooth, had to take it to the dealer to get the software updated.

I have a brand new 2019 and my HU freezes all the time now. It just started. Only have 2700 miles on the truck. The screen will display but then becomes unresponsive. I press the screen and all the buttons and nothing happens. Frustrating and so I'll have to take it in to either get an update or have it replaced.

From everything I've read, this has been an on going issue back to the '11.

I have a '14 and the only time I had an issue with mine before now was due to a loose battery cable. That was the first thing I checked before going through everything else in my original post. Of course my service department never called me back. Soonest I'll be able to get my truck over there will be tues :(

Try deleting your phone and repairing your phone and having it not sync contacts or text. You can also delete any contact info in your phone that has none alpha characters. Found this advice earlier on the forum when I was having the same issue. Cleared up the issue on my 18. Well... it’s done it a couple times but not every time I was in the truck like before.

Just some hope for this thread. A while back I purchased a 2014 Navigation unit dirt cheap due to it having the random rebooting issue. I was able to successfully update the firmware and the random rebooting was a thing of the past. Not sure if this will work if you are already locked up though.

I'll check this out and see if I can get it to work. I was reading online that my issue can be caused by an over the air update pushed by entune when newer model phones are released.

If I look put this on a usb should it boot and update from there then?

No, it must be done after the radio is fully booted. If successful it will work, I've changed phones 3 times since my update and have never had the freeze or reboot problem.

I have never heard of a Entune air update. Only if your phone is plugged in via usb cord..

If you have a 19, use the 18 update.

If you install an aftermarket HU in a newer Tundra, does that void the warranty in any way? Or, what are the issues to consider around doing that?

Mine did the same on my 2015. Dealer updated it and has been flawless since. It’s free. Take it in.

Honestly I'm not sure. I would assume that it would only void the warranty for that item not sure whether it would blanket the whole warranty. It's no different than other modifications, I.e leveling kits, spacers, leds, tires, those dont void warranties. Although large upgrades like full suspension or body lifts can void a warranty but usually come with their own

If they ever call me back before I get over there I'll find out for sure. I bought mine used and a second owner, so not sure whether I'm still covered under the original warranty and not sure if my extended covers this.

It will only void the warranty on the items the radio directly effects. i.e., head unit, speakers, wiring connected to the radio....

I would like to thank you for your suggestion. I went back and told it not to sync contacts and so far it seems like it's working good. Haven't noticed any issues so far since. That's just been since this morning. I woukd start pressing the buttons as soon as I started the truck and it would respond.

What did we ever do without the internet!! The only time I have noticed any further issues is when I try to do too much with it at the same time. Like interupt Siri while she is thinking. Unit gets confused and restarts. I can live with those few times though.

So I called Toyota today and they told me it may be covered under Toyotas warranty or my extended warranty. But they have to look at it first. They also told me that sometimes they just need to be updated and that no matter what that would cost me $70 because warranties dont cover updates (even though this ine renderes the entire system that I paid for completely useless). Which if their product is just going to shit out on me because of a failed update, they should have to eat that cost right? That sounds pretty scammy to me.

I'll still. Probably download and use the 2018 update for my 2019 since the radio is the same.

So, radio is toast. Checking to see if its covered ubder my extended warranty. If not, I'm waiting until I research some aftermarket HUs to buy. Anyone have one of the Android HU? I've been following the thread, joined the FB group buy page. Seems like the gen2s are alot better and not as many complaints as the gen1. May pull the trigger on one of those if they do another group buy.

FWIW Toyota batteries are made and distributed by Interstate. And in most circumstances the prorate structure is better.
