At family vacation at Disney. This last one at 7.1 was a big one. Rides closed, and it was mass exodus of people leaving . All packed in shoulder to shoulder.

I think a lot of it depends on the type of soil you’re standing on as well as the type of earthquake it is. Whether it’s rolling or shaking.
I didn’t even feel the one yesterday as I was driving back from Smart and final three minutes away. When I got back my daughter said we had an earthquake. That pro suspension soaked it up real nice LOL

I was in a movie theatre watching Spiderman. I stayed in my seat as with a lot of people, some got up and walked out.

I'm in Hollister (300+ miles away) and felt it as a gentle rolling for about 30 seconds.

That was the largest earthquake I've felt since I moved to CA. Didn't feel the first one yesterday, but certainly felt this one. About 1/3 of the pool emptied. Felt a big aftershock as well. About 100 miles west of Ridgecrest.

Yep. I was in Van Nuys when the Northridge quake hit. Some parts of the valley got a lot more damage than Northridge did where the quake was centered. South valley on Ventura Blvd got hammered due to the sandy soil. Was pretty shitty for a few days after it hit since most people don't prepare for squat and looting was going on and transportation was messed up. Food banks ran out of food and FEMA was a bit slow getting set up.

True... if a TON of people left and state leaders could stop running it into the ground it would be a pretty sweet place. But I still dream of getting out one day.

So we ended up camping in a canyon next to this mountain which was about 20 miles from Ridgecrest. The shaking lasted what seemed to be about 15-20 seconds.
    4EB47EA5-5290-4682-A75D-9BB94F6B06B2.jpg

Towards the end of the earthquake, we just see rocks breaking loose from the top of the mountain. @Vizsla ’s wife Stacey snapped this pic. Then a bunch of rocks start rolling down the mountain while everyone was running up a little hill on the other side. Except me, I was looking at my truck thinking oh shit. There were some giant boulders up there, really glad none of those broke loose.
    1CAB62CA-8E86-4B0F-B5E8-041A1C4EB47C.jpg

One golf ball sized rock hit my truck and this little fucker smashes through my tent.
    37DC2497-ED3D-46F3-97B2-E0D503A65A13.jpg

In hindsight, we probably should’ve moved camp to somewhere safer but we had a really long day of wheeling and the sun was going down. So we just kind of blocked our tents with our trucks.
    CE735F10-1BCA-4A5E-AF16-4D00C8F84967.jpg

I felt the ground move dozens of times after the quake. Nonstop aftershocks. And it was crazy that we could hear some of them coming. Sounded like distant thunder or like a really far sonic boom. I’ve been in a lot of earthquakes growing up in the Bay Area, but that was new to me. I was a little worried about another one coming in the middle of the night because I had my daughter with, but otherwise, it was actually really fun.
