    Some stuff
    a couple of days ago...

bec: what's that giant, off road, full time living truck?
    me: unimog?
bec: a what? no... the other one.
    me: earth roamer?
bec: yea, that one. when we sell the house, we should just get one of those.
    me: for real?
    bec: why not?

a couple of mind numbing conference calls later, and i'm cruising the earth roamer site. i hadn't been there in awhile. a few pre-owned trucks are listed, 400k (~20k miles), 490k (~7k miles), and 520k (~15k miles). jeezus.

for giggles, i kept cruising around. a new, 'small' roamer starts at 490k now. the new, giant, HD roamer is 1.5. million. it's a beast. looks pretty amazing though.

full time, comfy, off grid living? plenty of solar power for camera batteries? no mortgage? a couple of bikes and some skis hanging off the back? looks really appealing. driving a ford though? hmm...

    Lost track after #1.
I've kicked around that idea too. I'm not sure who works on those tho, nor what the average repair bill is when they go down.

I would buy an Earthcruiser EXP or FX over an Earthroamer

    https://earthcruiser.com

Earthroamer makes some sweet rides but I have heard some pretty not-so-nice things about their warranty policy.

The warranty is 3yr/36,000 miles for items they fabricate and install. After that, good luck with receiving support on something that fails.

There are better options for the money (EXP | $255-265k, FX $220-245k)

Who the hell is buying those things? People rich enough to afford them don't strike me as the type to go car camping or rough it out in the wilderness.

They are badass though, Ford or not.

we've got plans and are starting to work towards them. the tundra is central, not an earth roamer. i just like looking at them.

....or Toytec's parking lot...although I can think of some great places in ALASKA. Lots of open tundra to check out with it until it gets mired down in the spring on a muskeg and attracts a lot of looky loo tourists.

Aren't all those diesels? If so, will they run on 3rd world country diesel? I thought you couldn't run anything except US/Canada diesel.

If it had the Prius in tow, and the Roamer with a bunch of GreenPeace stickers plastered all over it wouldn't even be noticed in Boulder...........:burnrubber:

Yep....GreenPeace initially was all about humans coexisting with the planet, now.......it's death to all humans and evil Japanese whalers. I know what you are thinking...not the GreenPeace of the 70's by a long shot.

Not mine. It's getting ready to make a trip from Oxford, MS to Alaska and back. The spare has its own winch to get it down from its mount on the back. Cool truck. The inside and shell construction reminds me of a sailboat.

Taco cab not comfortable at all on that long trip....not as uncomfortable as the occasional passenger cars I saw with Alaska USAF and Army base access stickers belonging to military folks who decided to make the scenic trip back down the AL-CAN highway to the lower 48:thumbsup:

That's awrsome. Me to. Sounds like we are headed in the same direction. I'll keep you updated. Going with a 4 wheel camper. Just had a full set of budbuilt skids installed. Shorting out some other things. Follow you and several other closely. Thanks.
