You’ve seen how the birds fly in a V formation and usually one side is longer than the other.
Know why that is? . . . . There are more birds on that side!

    Thank you, goodnight :)

And for a quick check, -40 C is equal to -40 F. You can check your formula if in question.

After learning a bunch from Reading 39 pages on this thread, I thought I would share a little knowledge. 1 MOA at 100 yards is 1 inch and 10 inches at 1000 yards. Anyone that hunts with a scoped rifle needs to have a working knowledge of Moa. For the vast majority of all rifle scopes made in America, MOA is the language of scopes. It can certainly save you time and money at the rifle range. It can also help you to understand how to hit that longer shot at three, four, or five hundred yards. Let me give you a simple example. Let's say that you just mounted a scope on your rifle and your scope turret indicates, "1 click = 1/4 inch @ 100 yards". So, you fire three shots and the center of your group is 4 inches low and 3 inches to the right. Rather than burning through a couple of boxes of ammo trying to adjust your group through trial and error, you simply adjust your elevation by 16 clicks up and adjust your windage by 12 clicks to the left. Then fire one shot to confirm your zero and you're finished. You just zeroed your rifle with four rounds instead of 40. Example number two. You consult your drop chart for your 308 Winchester which indicates drop of 15 inches at 300 yards, from a 100-yard zero. How do you adjust your scope? You simply convert the drop in inches to Moa. 15 inches divided by 1 MOA at 300 yards is 5 Moa or 20 clicks. Your rifle is now zeroed for that 300 yard shot. To return to your 100-yard zero, simply come down 20 clicks on your elevation. If you guys are interested in learning more, I will be happy to share. For you more learned Marksman, I acknowledge the 4.6% error in my calculations. I'm just trying to give those interested their first Peek inside the tent. I'm just saying I'm not interested in starting a crap storm. Again, more to come if anyone is interested.

Ha! Unlike you canon cockers, I was always a MOA guy rather than Milrad. I can do range estimation in my head with MOA but need a calculator for mils. I actually switched to the MOA variant, IPHY to make calculations on the run even easier. Nothing easier for me than inches/minutes×100=range in yards. Wind holds easy also. Distance to target in yards/100×windspeed÷10 for the 308 Winchester.

And thank you for your service Shoe, no disrespect.

If you drop a full can of Diet Coke and a full can of coke in a bucket full of water. The coke can will sink and the Diet Coke will float
