I’ve been contemplating a switch to a midsize truck for awhile, and my decision was made when someone damaged my rear bumper and I was given a 2019 Frontier as a rental while the Tundra was being repaired. I wasn’t sure I would go with the new Frontier until I started following the thread by @Black Wolf and his new 22, test drove one and much preferred it over the current Tacoma and Ranger.

The dealership had nothing on the lot besides the test drive vehicle, but there was a loaded Pro 4X in transit, which I snagged.

Unlike my Tundra, the cabin is very quiet, and everything feels tight; no rattles, squeaks, or clicking noises. Obviously I lost interior and bed space, but my kids still easily fit in the back seat and they like that the door handles are easy to grab, it’s easier to get into and out of, and they can reach the window buttons.

Power feels more than adequate, and the heavy steering feels connected to the road and much less floaty than my Tundra, especially on the highway.

A Retrax Pro XR is on the way, along with some quickfists and strut mounts for some tools. Otherwise it will remain mostly stock until the Nismo front bumper is available.

Congrats! Hefty Fabworks has a quite nifty front winch bumper available....the cab is super quiet. Crazy quiet actually. Props to Nissan on that!

Retrax came in, easy enough to throw on. Oddly, they leave a big gap in the weatherstripping along the top of the bed wall at the cab near each retrax rail. Easy enough to cover up with a little rubber strip and some 3m tape but still…

It does block the drain at the cab end of the T-slot but I normally park pointed uphill or in a garage.

Yes, it’s been great. My kids fit in the back, and my wife much prefers the size. She’s barely over 5’ so never liked driving the tundra, let alone getting in and out of it. My 4 year old daughter is ecstatic that she can open and close the doors by herself and reach the window button while buckled in. The smallest things… :)

My local Toyota dealer offered me $47,000 for my Tundra, which isn’t bad. I’m not in a huge hurry to move it but it feels like the used market is finally coming down a bit.

    I’m 6’3” with a 5 and 7 year old, think it’d be enough?

My son is 7 and has a backless booster, and sits behind me with plenty of room. I’m 6’ for reference. We use one the diono seats for my daughter that has very little depth.

As you’re a bit taller, it will probably depend on how far back you like to sit from the steering wheel, and at what seat angle you prefer. There’s definitely enough head room to sit upright and raise the seat all the way for me.

I’ll take a picture of the back row in a bit so you can see the space.

    Edit: pics

The drivers seat is positioned exactly where I’ve been using it for the last two weeks, and I can also sit in the passenger seat without a problem.
