Would anyone who currently owns a 2017 (or older) Regular Cab 4WD standard bed Tundra mind sharing the payload from their door jam sticker?
I'd like to compare it to the payload of a 2022 SR5 DC 4WD 6.5' bed.
    Thank you!

Not my truck. 14 rclb SR. 2WD. Believe the brochure number was 2080lb. Some serious googleFu involved there.

Thanks very much. I’m thinking even an SR5 RC 4WD would have more than 1600 lbs then?

I wasn't aware that there is an 22 RC 4WD. Only DC and CM.

I could be wrong but I thought that I’ve seen it only impact the 2022 models by 100 lbs.

The added differential, axles, impeller, and transfercase, is way more than 100lbs.

I was surprised also, but I thought I’d seen that on the 3rd gen forum when folks shared their payload stickers. Could be wrong.

Yep. Transfercase is freakin heavy. My 14 DC 4WD payload sticker was 1360 if I recall correctly and my 07 DC was similar.

    275 lbs difference. My mistake.

Base curb weight difference is 275lbs for 4WD and I find that to be very conservative. Only 275lbs?

Thought we were attempting to confirm the difference in weight between the 2WD and 4WD. Check out the curb weights. 275 lb difference.

I was, then yall questioned my recollection about the weight penalty for 4WD.

I’m still looking for any 4WD Tundra with an actual payload of 1600 lbs or more.

Yota's overall numbers for this 22 just simply don't jive. I can see why there is some confusion.

They sure don’t. That’s why I keep asking new owners or people doing test drives to snap a picture of the payload sticker.

Thank you. I’d appreciate that very much. I’ve yet to find one with more than 1500 lbs. The maximum is supposed to be 1940. Would be pretty weird if one didn’t exist between 1501 and 1939.

Mine is an earlier pre facelift 2013. RCLB 5.7 4x4 SR5. The door sticker reads 1840 lbs, I believe. If I'm near the truck I'll try to follow up with a photo.

Thanks for doing this for me. That would be fantastic if you’re correct. At this point I’d take any 5.7L 4WD Tundra with over 1600 lbs of payload and less than 200,000 kms on it.

My regular cab shortbeds are 1520 and 1530lbs. 6800 gvwr. 4wd with 5.7

IIRC the longbeds had 7200 gvwr and about 1800 payload

    2007 and 2010.

The last year for a shortbed was 2013. I think the last year for a longbed was 2016. I dont think SR5 longbeds were ever available on gen 2.5, only base trim. In the US atleast, but i dont think toyota made any exceptions for canada.

Thank you. I'm not as familiar with the 2.5 gen and earlier. I don't know if the base model would suit my needs. All I need is around 1600 lbs of payload, 9500 lb towing capacity, 4WD, A/C and an AM/FM radio. Plus, I'd like the largest fuel tank I can get. My 2012 Tacoma has a 75L tank and we have to stop and refuel way too often when towing. We can always get an aftermarket brake controller and hitch installed if the 2013-2016 long bed SR's didn't come equipped.

Mine is a 2015 RCLB 4x4 with the 5.7 and it is an SR .
Mine shows 1910 for payload if I recall correctly and the only exception for the yellow sticker is the RC Step thing which is pretty light too.

Mine has power Windows and doors,Carpet,Tow Package and is as loaded as an SR could be I think as most seem to be more bare bones that I have seen.
I added the intermittent wipers in about 10 minutes for $128 and I replaced the radio with one from a 2019 to be able to run Sat radio easily too.

Mine has the small tank too but the seats are so rock hard that so far time in the saddle between breaks is decided by my ass falling asleep before running out of gas even while towing.

These specs are pretty widely available too it seems unlike the ones for the new trucks which do indeed seem to vary from source to source including directly from different parts of toyotas own sites?!

Thanks very much for sharing! I'm OK researching all of the specs on the older model Tundra's with the exception of the payload. Like you said, it certainly isn't making sense for the 2022's and I'm concerned that it would be the same way for the older models. That's why I'm on here pestering owners like yourself to share their actual door jam stickers.

Long bed or short? Does yours have the 26 US Gal tank? A/C?

1910 would be amazing because I'd have to subtract the weight of a roof top canoe rack, tonneau cover, rock rails, spray in bed liner and hitch, before I even consider the impact of the tow vehicle, gear and my wife and I.

Yes mine has the small tank and AC,I think they all had AC.

One of my reasons for the RCLB was the max payload available from the range of Tundras and in the 2nd Gen they did not mess with power or payload ratings from trim level to trim level except for the obvious weight penalty that each additional item deducts from the totals.
Or if they did I have never heard about it before?

Now though for some unknown reason the SR is being "crippled" in some ways at least on paper and so I dont know that the most simple truck in the line still offers the highest ratings for having the least amount of extra crap installed or not?

I have read various theories about the reasoning and point of this but all of it is just conjecture from what I can tell too.

I know that for me the V8 is a better option for towing than the new motor and if for no other reason than I own it already and paid a fraction of what a new truck will cost for it and it has been good for my use and that is more than enough for me.

Mine is a Work Truck mostly but also plenty comfortable and roomy for my needs aside from the stupid rock hard seats and the new trucks are simply an unknown aside from the Toyota past track record which sure suggests they should be reliable at least.

I have a feeling that MPG when towing is going to be exactly the same regardless once we start to really see the numbers too.

I do really like that you are so forward thinking in payload weight limits. I’m the same way now and made a lot of expensive mistakes along the way.

One of those expensive mistakes was trying to make a round peg fit in a square hole. I totally understand why you want to be in a Tundra. I really enjoyed mine most every day. In the end after trying to make payload and gross ratings work I had to finally toss in the towel.

Luckily, you are wise enough to verify before the purchase.

Good luck on your search. :hattip:
