So I’ve been taking my dogs in the bed of my tundra and these guys have been hanging their paws over the side. So now I’m getting scratches on the paint.

anyone have any suggestions for protection of paint or training techniques?

You might want to try laying a clear film down both sides. My Tundra has these film strips on front of hood and behind rear doors to protect against chipping. Maybe Toyota offers this down topside of bed.

PPF is the only thing I could suggest as far as protection. At the end of 2020, I detailed two Mercedes for someone....they had a small dog that they would allow to hang it's paws outside the window....both drivers side doors were scratched above the door handles. They had gotten fairly deep, so I did what I could with them.
