    Hey Tundras,

(Bare with me I’m new to the whole performance mods on a truck)

I just bought a 2017 Tundra SR5 double cab. This guy I talked to said he spent $7 on a chip with wires to get better performance and better gas mileage. He told me that before I was even considering a Tundra. Now it’s been so long I can’t remember exactly what he said it was and I can’t seem to find anything on it online. Anyone know what this is? Or have one?

    I appreciate the help,
    Hunter

I’m not sure this guy was very adamant about it working and swore by it. Thanks also, new to the whole forum thing!

    Welcome Hunter nice truck!
He was probably talking about bully dog tuner. Most use BDX tuner, cost about $400 you can talk to @dirtydeeds he sell them, and great guy to consult with. You can also look into a DAP tune which I have, cost $600 and well worth the money, many guys and gals on her run either or. As for $7 chip never heard of that. All of these tunes require you to upload a program through your ODB II port, no chip.

That’s what I was thinking.... When I was looking it up and it never said anything close to a $7 chip. And thanks! Wanted the Limited but this one was such a great deal I could not pass it up.

If it’s only $7 it’s definitely too good to be true. At that price it’s a diode or resistor that you tap into the intake air temp sensor to fool the truck into thinking it’s ingesting really cold air. In return the truck is supposed to reward you with a more aggressive timing curve which gives you more power.

Let’s pretend our trucks don’t adapt around this false reading (they do) you still don’t get the improved shifting. Torque management removed. Throttle body remap. And speed limiter removed.

If the $7 chip did anything of value for any period of time it’s a no brained. But unfortunately changing the reading of the IAT enough to do anything will cause a check engine light. A lower than expected reading that can’t be compensated for intheory makes power. But in real life, on a Tundra, it causes a check engine light.

Call me for special pricing on the Bullydog. 760-877-4234

Resurrecting an old thread here. I have a 2011 Platinum with the flex fuel 5,7. TRD intake and exhaust. 275 65 20 tires. I drive 150 miles a day to work and back home. I am getting 15-16 mpg with regular unleaded gas. What I would like to be able to do is change the shift points in the transmission. I think the truck would perform better if it wasn't shifting all the time. Has anyone used the Bully Dog to change the shift points? I wonder how much it will effect the gas milage.

No such thing!! EBay has some BS so-called performance tuner that I would never buy or put on a Gremlin or Yugo. The good stuff out there are more than $300 and come from reputable and proven companies. Your truck is an investment, so don’t waste your money.

I am running Bully Dog BDX myself. I love it. But, there are several others out there to choose from.

My Bully Dog GT came with the supercharger, like it and need to do a little more research with it. The only thing I really wish it had is a way to mirror it to a HU. (Very small display)

Too bad bulldog doesn't make anything for first gens. I guess there's always underdog racing development and their MAF calibrater

Can i use the platinum bully dog as to calibrate my speedometer and if I do will it mess up my warranty. I have a 2015 Toyota Tundra SR5 5.7 FFV and also will it give me a little better mpg?
