I thought I read somewhere that that my leveling motors would transfer over to replacement Spyder headlights. Seeking confirmation from someone who has done it. Thanks.

Gen 3 yes, Gen 2 im not sure. If the adjustment screw on the back of the lights is molded into the housing then no. If the adjustment screw can be removed from the housing yes you can add the level motor.

I keep hoping someday to get a definitive answer to the original question. Somebody? anybody?

I have heard not but I would call the manufacturer. Fitment and level motor is reason I went with retros from eledobleu

Yes but pricey without do core exchange. I really thought about Spyders but it was more fitments concerns that made me go with retros

I just received my spyder headlights and was wondering about the leveler as well but then I out singe real thought into it. How many times do I use the leveler? I mean seriously the amount of times I used it more than half of those times I really.just didn't give a crap to mess around with adjusting it"toggle up toggle down toggle up toggle down" not worried about it I'm gonna rip the motor out and live happy not worrying about adjusting my lights! Ah ha ha ha!

So. Is that a "no"? they won't transfer over?

I'm not really sure. I can't find a lick of evidence whether it be literature or video proving it's possible. I might also add that I cannot find anything showing the differences between original headlights and projector style headlights. Looks like I might have to do my own. Anyhow the mystery is still yet solved

I was really hopeful upon opening this thread. My 2010 stockers are fogged on the outside and sometimes get condensation on the inside.

I use my leveling motors often as I tow and carry bikes in the bed. It's just an option I'm not willing to give up.

Any other brands or options out there that someone has had luck with?

My spyders will be here on Tuesday and I plan to attempt the motor swap...
why were you not successful swapping the motor? From everything I’ve read, if you can remove the plastic leveling screw, you can remove motor and swap. More info please...

Bump, Update? Who's got a successful leveling motor swap story?
I stare at my old worn lights every day, but I'm not going to swap unless I retain my leveling switch.

I’m waiting on these to arrive from another member today, unsure what the back looks like, hoping the screws line up so I can swap motor...I’m gonna try...

This is the backside of those headlights,I had these first and could not get the motor to attach so I just did a retrofit on them and called it good!

Okay, so although I didn’t get the motors swapped, I did get a peek at what everything looks like behind the lights. I think I can swap the leveling motors on to these. I’m awaiting word on the seller as tonwhich brand they are. I had to do this mod in 2 hours before the wife got home so I couldn’t mess with the leveling motor. I tried to unscrew the flat head screw attaching the motor to the headlight, but it just turned and turned and nothing ever loosened up. I tried to stick a flathead in between one of the teeth below the screw and turn the screw, but that just busted a little plastic piece I was using as leverage. If I could get this motor off, I’m 90% sure it would work on these lights, maybe a little dremmeling of the plastic surround of the aftermarket headlight screw...

Here’s both lights, red sharpie is pointing to oem headlight leveling motor (screw)

Next pic is of oem headlight motor/screw

Last pic (red wires peeking out) new headlights

The screws are in the exact same space on each of the headlight and the only issue I can see is the plastic surrounding the aftermarket screw.

If somebody can tell me how to remove the motor, I’d be down to try it. I’m not gonna be a guinea pig, I wanna hear from somebody that’s actually removed it...

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm looking at putting in a set of Alpharex headlights that appear to have a similar back setup, and methinks the motor may be able to be swapped over...

I'm curious, if you did, how did it work and what was required to get it to fit...the tabs to twist the motor in would be different?
