Do I need to add leaf springs

    I just picked up the Bilstein 8112/8100's with SBC UCA's
    I did not buy leaf springs.
    I want to lift the truck around 2.5"-3".
    The shop that is going to install the shocks are recommending I add leaf springs for several reasons.
    1- supposedly cant raise the rear unless I have additional leafs, so only front would be raised to match factory rear.
    2- much better if you want to add weight to back such as bumper, roof tent set up etc...
    3- enhances ride quality

    Does this make sense. Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Eibach Pro Truck Stage 2 suspension, HD RAS, 285/75-18 Nokian Outpost AT, LoPro bed cover, TRD rear sway bar, DD 10 inch exhaust, and various other goodies
    You can install rear leafs that will lift- icon, OME and others out there, you can install add a leaf, you can looking into roadmaster active suspension (1 to 1.5 lift) and there are several leaf spring shackles that will lift the rear an inch to two inches. So there are several options available.

    Thanks for the advice.
    I think I am going to go with the Icon RXT.
    Now my dilemma is I am being told two different opinions on how to lift the rear to get it to 2 3/4 inch lift.
    The person who sold me the shocks recommended adding adjustable shackles. Set at 1 inch and have the shocks set at 1 3/4 to get to the 2 3/4. Said the shock works better if it isnt extended to the 2 3/4 right out of the box, it will perform at all times closer to the bypass level, if that makes sense.
    My mechanic is saying that doesnt make sense and to forgo shackles and just do the 2 3/4 lift from the shock.

    What your mechanic is saying is to install the lifted coilovers in front and leave the rear of the truck stock height. That will leave you a little nose high if you keep the front coilovers at the higher preset height. To level the truck, you would want to add an inch or so lift to the rear and as I said before shackles or add a leaf will do that for you.

    The plan is to add a rooftop tent for overlanding/camping. My mechanic suggested I add the leaf springs now vs. waiting to do it down the road. My goal is to get the tent in aroung 4-6 months.

    So the OEM rake is approx 1" so let's say you lift the front 2.5". In order to level the truck you are going to want to lift the rear approx 1.5". There's a few ways to complete this.

    New leaf pack - Icon RXT is the one that I point most customers too for cost to performance ratio. Was discussed above by @excelsuspension .
    Lift Shackle - Coachbuilder makes the most common one for around here. You'd probably be looking for the +2" shackle which gives about 1.25" of actual lift. You could go with a +3" shackle as well for a bit more lift.
    Blocks - Please. No.

    Since I saw that you are adding a tent and rack to the back I strongly recommend getting a new leaf pack.

    Another question and thanks for the advice so far.
    The place that is going to install for me is recommending I do a diff drop. They quoted me $120 in labor. This is in addition to the labor to add the shocks, do the lift and and the leaf pack. Does this make sense??
