I'm thinking of adding rails/cross bars to my shell so I can mount an awning, and eventually, a basket for long trips...only for a couple soft bags with light weight.

Anyone make their own rails drilled through a shell? Was thinking of using unistrut. Just curious if anyone came across any issues, etc.

    Function before sparkle.
Does your canopy roof have a honeycomb section? If yes, try not to drill through it (as long as the honeycomb is centered).
