For my first official mod to the truck I’m lookin at gettin some extra light. I like the look of the led cubes on both sides of the hood close to th windshield. What do y’all recommend and how do they attach? I don’t want to drill holes into my hood so if that’s what I have to do then I’m out

They attach to the hood mounts, no need to drill holes. SDHQ and Rago Fab are probably the two most popular ones. I have Rago and they're great.

Can't remember which one but someone said you had to remove both bolts on the hood mount to install one of these. Definitely not the Rago so I think it's either the Caliraised or sdhq. I'd imagine that would make it much harder to install. Just something to take into consideration.

LOL I can't remember now. I think I just loosened both and removed one bolt and slid the bracket in. Then did the other bolt. I think it was @sr5shark or @Shelbie67 that told me this? Maybe he can clarify.

edit. Oh, and by removing both bolts, I meant at the same time.

The Rago attach one bolt at a time. Remove the top bolt and attach the bracket. Tighten the bolt enough to hold the hood in place and then remove the back bolt. Slide the bracket over and reinsert the bolt. I installed mine and my hood stayed in alignment.

Alan, were you the one that told me one of the other brands had to remove both bolts to install it?

Not me but I heard this too. I did a quick check on Rago, SDHQ, and Caliraised and it looks like all can be installed without removing both bolts.

I do like that the Rago and SQHQ brackets have places to zip tie the light wire to for a clean installation. I have heard that the newer Caliraised do not have this but I have not seen them in person.

BTW Rago sometimes runs flash sales. Keep your eye on their page to maybe score a deal, if you decide on them.

Vizsla, so the Caliraised version requires both bolts on one side of hte hood to be removed at the same time?

SDHQ for me 1 bolt at a time. The rago fab mounts do not support an XL80. So had to go the SDHQ route....

Maybe it wasn’t me, know I talked about it somewhere here though.
Unless I missed something, and I looked, yes. Really isn’t that bad, just adds an extra twist.

I've heard that the SDHQ and Rago are stronger (ie - less vibration) than the Caliraised. How were they and what did you change to?

I removed them due to vibration, but had heavy lights on them. Like it without ditch lights so no current plans to replace.

Has anyone thought about incorporating a set of LED lights into the front side of the mirrors? That way it would reduce the glare off the hood, vibration, view blockage, and if you have power folding mirrors you could use them at the campsite. Oh and maybe use the directional motor from the mirror for aiming the lights if needed.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
I've thought about putting some BD S2's in the lower black part on the stock mirrors. Either style of mirror and light, you'd have to customize a mount/ bracket.
