Anyone figured out how to disable the darn seatbelt chime with the digital MID display and the ODO trip button? I watched all the old toyota and Lexus videos but i can’t seem to get it work.

I have seat belt extenders but I will be watching here to see if there’s a fix. My dealer wouldn’t even entertain the idea of turning them off for me ha

I'll be watching this thread too! I always wear my seatbelt when on roadways, but if I'm just moving the truck on my property or my wife pops her belt before we stop, holy smokes that is the loudest seat belt alarm I have ever heard!

....after working wrecks for 20 years, I'd highly suggest wearing your seatbelt on the roadway. They really do save lives, there's no doubt. You would be absolutely amazed how often those without seatbelts get ejected from their vehicle in a wreck; I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it over and over.

Don’t recommend this, but the easiest way is to have an extra seatbelt clip in the car. Stick it in place of the actual seatbelt clip whenever you do not wear the seatbelt and do not want the chime.

Buckle the seat belt and sit on it..

You ever fixed 100 miles of fence with a seat belt on?

Never done any fence work or plan to. Also I would not recommend fixing a fence and driving.

Lol, that's funny....but the exact reason I said "when on my property" in my post. I did get a chuckle out of picturing your situation though; that seat belt ding is like no other!!! It seems the ground alert in a crashing plane is quieter.

This is what I do at work. My F250 is ridiculous.

Is it a risk? Sure, but since the speed limit inside our gates is 5 mph I’m just going to say it is a very small risk. With only two people on site, only one person is driving anyway.

Obviously you have never done any work like this in your life. I wouldn’t recommend it either. Fence and bails of hay made me do something totally different.

I see your viewpoint and respect what you do (assuming trauma Dr/nurse), but running fence line is a slow process that you stop frequently from a very slow pace.

    Too many, but not enough....
Carista works on the 2.5 gen, much cheaper than techstream. Dont know if its out yet for the 3rd gen though.

Check the build link in my signature.
Your dealer should be able to do it with Techstream, but I doubt it’s available through the user-accessible settings in the truck. In the user manual, there should be a section in the back listing all the different customizations and whether there are user or dealer configured.

You might be able to connect to the truck with an older TS and get to the settings - I know that with the gen 2.5 and gen 2, older TS still accessed everything fine, it just didn’t auto-detect a vehicle newer than the “supported” versions

I’ll have to get some of the fake seat belts inserts when they come out. On my Tacoma I had to take the steering wheel apart and disable a wire. There are time in a real truck drivers life where seatbelts are unnecessary and impractical. Should be a off switch in the settings menu. Like everything on these smart vehicles. Damn safety laws.

did the seat belt chime on our 2018, also changed the blinks from 3 to 7 on lane change, also changed the memory config to not move the seat on engine turn on/off but the mirrors and steering wheel still moves.

not too hard to get techstream for free, just have to look it up :) compared to paying for 1 month at a time for the carista app. but then again some people might like the convenience of carista than trying to get techstream to load on a laptop.

I bought 2 of those Tikit seat belt silencers for my 4+ mile ride down the deer camp road, opening and closing gates.

Its particularly loud on the 22. Much more so than my previous Tundras.

Toyota should offer a way to disable it below 25mph for farm work, trailering a boat in and out of the ramp, etc.

BTW Techstream can turn it off...

I haven’t played with settings enough yet but backing a trailer is extremely obnoxious.

Current techstream supports turning off the chime.

I recently turned off all seatbelt chimes. And changed courtesy turn signals from 3 to 5.

Looking to do this when my truck arrives, but I've been having trouble getting TechStream going on Win 11 with my MVCI J2534. Did you do this with your own install of TechStream of have the dealer do it? What adapter are you using if doing on your own? Let me know. Thanks!

When I get to the first gate at the hunting ranch I fasten it behind me and it stays that way until I leave. Here we go again with people that don't drive ranch roads or work on ranches.

They sell "bottle openers" that just so happen to function As a very small and unnoticeable remedy for this. Used them in many company vehicles before that were never driven over 10mph. The handle of the "bottle opener" just so happens to have a cutout that might fit into the seat belt buckle. I had great luck with them YMMV

I've seen several companies make what they are calling "extenders" that snap into the buckle and stay in place and the user just snaps their belt into this piece. My concern here is the lack of any sort of regulations/safety requirements. I'd sure hate to depend on this device when I'm using my seatbelt and have it fail.

I actually use my seatbelt everytime I drive, my issue is when I get out to move something in the driveway pulling in or take my seatbelt off as I'm arriving etc. It's just absurd to have to put my seatbelt back on to move a few feet. Toyota was just brilliant in making the seatbelt alarm so loud is drowns out the parking sensors :frusty:!

Why does every question on this forum always have the same bs responces about "safety and I don't recommend"? Good grief.
