I've been following this thread and love these fogs. I'm itching to purchase them. I'm just trying to determine if the pro is worth the extra cost.

Are you in the situation where more lights are needed? Or more regular, daily street driven?
Imo the pro are for more off road type.

This is a good point. It would be regularly driven on the street.

More light is always cool though

It is. Especially if you drive the country road/highway. More lights is always better. But just have to determine how much night drive you have and how often you end up using the extra light. That may or not justify going for the pro version.

Pros. Buy once, cry once. I’ve had no issues with blinding oncoming traffic. I even walked out in front of the truck and ducked down to see where the light became blinding. You would have to be in a go kart for them to be blinding. Haha

@Diode Dynamics i was browsing your site last night. Will a amber ss3 pro be available in your driving beam? Thank you!

cancel that. Josh with customer service got me lined out. Had to order the SS3 amber pro driving separately from bracket. Josh even took $20.00 off bracket to get it to match price of kit. I am excited to get these lights and see how they work in heavy fog.

    See fine print
I got the sports. My buddie got the pros. If you have good headlights already like the 19+ led units then the sports will more than suffice. If you have holegen headlights still I would opt for the pros. Hope that helps.

I’m still happy w my sports.

Got the DD SS3 Pro foglights, white, installed but they are currently controlled by the turn knob on the headlight stock. On a whim, purchased a foglight button for the dash. Have room.

How to wire up my foglights to that dash button so I can run fogs alone independent of having my low beam headlights on?

Soldering iron, heat shrink, zip ties, and wire snips ready!

Just an FYI to guys who had oem led fog lights. So, apparently the factory fogs and wiring are only designed for a 16w bulb. The Pros are 36w lights. I decided to build a harness to run the fogs off a direct feed from the battery rather than take a chance on the stock wiring. I may be overdoing it, but I’m just that extra lol.

I’d be curious to know what OEM foglight bulbs pull amperage-wise vs the Pro?

    amps = watts/volts

    pros 36/12v = 3 amp.
    Running - 36/14v = 2.57

    stock 16/12v = 1.3 amp.
    Running - 16/14v = 1.14

probably not enough to hurt anything. But I have peace of mind haha.

Definitely good thinking!! No light is worth catching anything on fire.

If you knew what gauge wire the truck uses for the fogs I’m sure you could google the suggested amp rating.

Screenshot_2020-02-01-18-25-00.jpg I'm just going to drop this in here incase anyone else is worried. This chart shows that even at 20 gauge the factory wire size is more than enough. Also still waiting on some love for the 2nd gen. Haha

@Diode Dynamics have you done any tests in regards of the tundra wiring being safe with the Pro fogs?

I ran them without a harness for 2 weeks with no issues. I just like knowing the powers going through something I know is more than big enough. Plus, my harness has a relay for each side. So even if one side goes bad for whatever reason, the other light still functions.

Cant ever be too careful just wanted to point out for others that may not have the electrical skills or knowledge that the factory wiring is rated for the amperage that these lights draw. I would hate to see anyone not buy these lights just because they were afraid they wouldnt work as plug and play. I understand where you're coming from, I am an electrician with many years in industrial motor controls and relays who is currently trying to save some coin buy building my own version of the spod system. I am by no means an expert in automotive electrical but I understand relays and how they work, others may not have the knowledge or skill. Here is what one of my work benches looks like currently, it a mess I know but I just stopped in frustration at running out of positaps. Also still waiting on some 2nd gen love. I am dying for a set of these fogs in amber for the gen 2.20200201_214902.jpg

I also built my own control enclosure. I like being able to replace individual relays. I'm sure the Spod is a great system but nothing beats hand built with quality American/Jap relays and switches

    Diode Dynamics Install Question:

Since I just installed these SS3’s did any of you notice vibration? Driving in I noticed over some bumps in the road that caused the lights to flicker like. Because the stock light is much lighter than the aluminum DD’s.

I might be to picky but I’m thinking of hot glueing or silicone the trim a little to help secure the light housing better. Has anyone else experienced this?

How do the white lenses on the Pro series look with your existing truck headlights? It is rated at 6000K which is a blue tinted white light that I hate but the 5000K is not offered. I was told by DD that it is a "hint" of blue. What do you guys see with the installs?

Factory led headlights are around 55-5700k. The 6k fogs should match fine.
For what it’s worth, the oem led fogs measured out around 6150k.
