Looking at a cover to replace my camper shell. Like the looks of the Diamondback as I need something water proof and lockable, easy to get into. They show an HD for $2100 and an SE for $1700. I am retired, use the 2018 tundra as a daily driver. What are the differences in the HD and the SE and is the HD worth $400 more.

    thanks

If you will be loading/transporting heavy weights on top of the cover, than the HD is the way to go. I had the HD cover for my GMC HD because I hauled my ATV on the top of the cover.

Their customer service and lifetime warranty is awesome. I never had any issues with water other than when I damaged the seal. Called Diamondback and they sent me a new seal (no charge). After 10 years, two of my gas struts were showing some signs of failing - 1 phone call to see about buying some new ones and low and behold new ones were on my front porch in less than a week (again no charge). Great Company!

I have been debating on whether to buy one for the Tundra, but am also considering a topper.

Mine's an SE. Rated at 400# I believe. Its all I needed so it was an easy decision. Love the thing and they were great to work with. I tried to use their online military discount page, wouldn't work, called them, and the guy on the phone fixed it and got me the discount.

I went with the HD just in case I need to put anything heavy up there.

As has been previously stated; the major difference is how much weight you can carry on top of the cover. The HD can carry 1600lbs on top of it, the SE can carry 400lbs.

I got the SE, knowing that I would not put my ATV on top. I also got the crossbin and had DB install extra cleats. The extra cleats have come in very handy carrying some things on top. The DB is probably my favorite mod and I get many compliments on the cover.

I went with the HD because while the se is rated for 400, I was worried about point load like standing on it and overloading one section per se.

I’ve already had a toolbox up there that weight 600 pounds and about nine or ten neighborhood kids jumping on it to test it out.

I do have a little rattle in mine that I haven’t tracked down but it’s only on sharp bumps and only hear it with the back window down.

Echoing previous poster the cross bin is fantastic

I've got the same rattle, only hear it with the back window down.

I think it’s the safety latch up front but I don’t know what to do to fix it.

There’s a post somewhere on hear about adding caulk in the seams between the cross braces and the underside of the cover. Just haven’t gotten around to doing it myself.
