So this is my brothers truck. was given to him a few years back by his wife's family. It belonged to their grandfather and he had it since new and kept great care of it. It had under 40k miles and was pretty much spotless....until my sis in laws family got their hands on it dor dump runs and beach trips. They trashed it and it hasnt been cared for in a long time. There is no wax or sealant or any kind or protective material at all. I plan to change that with a full decon and paint correction.i will document my progress here.

Just dropped off at my house so I got right into it.

Full strip wash with dawn and some APC and degreaser. Use the foam cannon and it worked great.

Next is IronX and clay and I'll throw up a few pics.

    The plan is:
    Strip wash
    IronX
    Rinse
    Clay
    Wash
Cut with Meg's M105 with a yellow LC foam and if needed LC wool cutting pad
Buff with Meg's M205 with either an orange LC or black LC foam pad
    IPA wipe down
    DPC shield ceramic coating
Then not sure what will go over that, I am considering the following:
Reload, optimum optiseal, hydro2 topped with beadmaker, jescar powerlock topped with wax, just not sure what I want to use yet. It'll likely come down to how exhausted I am from doing all the other work.
Shine supply trim restore for all trim
    Optimum tire coating
    Interior detail
    Glass clayed and polished
Fluid film undercarriage , frame, wheel wells, engine bay and back side of body panels

I decided to switch gears and do the inside a little bit before it got dark. Pics tomorrow.
I will say this....shine supply clean and shine is really really nice to work with. I was amazing some of the crud it cleaned up with just a towel.
More updates tomorrow. I plan to get the whole truck decontaminated with IronX and clay mitt. If I have time I will start into with megs 105, I'm supposed to have a shipment from my boy @Erichudgins coming in with the good stuff I need to get this paint fixed.

I have this new polisher and was just too anxious to try it out. This was just a test area I taped off to get a feel for it before I dive in with compound. So here's a sneak peek.
This was m205, on a saturated yellow LC foam cutting pad. I'm pleasantly surprised how well just the 205 did. I still plan to use 105 on the truck then finish down with 205 but wow does the m205 have some versatility. Great cut when using lots of product and finishes down very smooth even with a cutting pad.

Any tips on this older paint? Or good LSP ideas for this color? @SouthBoundSteve @driverdog @War Machine @briarpatch @cmiller219
To me the paint seems hard and there is a good amount of clear coat. I don't wanna cause any damage. I'm pretty sure it has never been polished, not in at least 10 years anyway.
Do you think the M105, M205 is a good plan? I have done a lot of research and reading and seems like it's a proven combo.
There are quite a few spots that will need touchup paint, I'm not sure I'll be doing that this time around. I may already be in over my head lol

I've used the M105/M205 combo with great results....only issue is dusting. I've heard that the newer M110 and M210 cut/finish just as well with less dusting, but I've not used them....only so much room on the shelf.

I haven’t used 105 or 205 either, but I know it gets recommended a ton by detailers. Maguiars knows their stuff, and I’m confident those will do the job. I’m really looking forward to the results!

@Pudge I haven’t worked with that color, but I really think Jescar Powerlock will be a great choice for it. I’m guessing that this truck won’t see a ton of regular washing / waxing like your Tundra does, and Powerlock lasts much longer than the other sealants I’ve tried.
Hydro2 and Reload would be another good option, but you already know very well what those can do. I’d use this truck as a guinea pig for this product for you. I think you’ll like it a lot. Possibly top it with Collinite, which is a very popular combo in the business. I find that Powerlock looks great on it’s own though.

@Pudge dang nice truck man. I would take the same route as @driverdog mentioned. Maybe even start on tail gate something small or somewhere ridden a little and figure out what pad/product is giving you the best and safest result. Honestly once I was done with something like that I would even try my hand at a ceramic coating. Starting small areas and roof and hood. That thing is nice

Sean can answer also, but I really like the company. Great people, great service. Their Wise Guy Tire Cleaner and Trim Shield are far and away the best in their category as far as I’m concerned. Clean N Shine interior cleaner is great, and Signature Shine Wax leaves a beautiful finish.
I do prefer other products for soap and sealants, but you really can’t go wrong with their stuff. The only thing of theirs I haven’t been impressed with is the glass cleaner.
They are very responsive to questions, and take personal interest in their customers and orders. I’ve had them call me and apologize when they noticed a shipment was late, and it wasn’t even their fault.
@jason.bird is a big fan as well.

I've actually been back and forth through email with them. Its pretty awesome thatbthey are that personable. Some of the products they suggested were the ones you listed. And I think I wanna try the iron remover. Those little rust specs are starting to multiply.

You've been hearing about them for good reason. Most everything I have tried from them is amazing. I really like their interior clean and shine, cleans some nasty stuff and leaves a satin sheen and nice smell behind and easy to work with. Their tire cleaner, wise guy, is second to none IMO, I just used they trim shield yesterday @War Machine and it's really amazing. Nothing made my windshield cowl look better. Tbey are a legit company.

I havent tried any of their polishes or selanats yet but I would consider it for sure. Right now I mostly use carpro stuff but soon will be replacing some of it with shine supply equivalents

Yeah they do plan to keep it washed and protected with whatever I choose for them to use for protection. I will buy a bottle of whatever I want them to use for the next few years. Not sure what itll be yet.

After a slight miscue by USPS and me receiving an empty box that was ripped off of its contents of m205 and m205 and a dozen pads and some sealants. I headed down to good old HF and picked up a jug of m105 and got to work with a yellow cutting pad. One issue and it likely is operator error, the 105 finishes down like this pic, and I can't wipe it off without an ipa mix. Why is that? Overworking?Under working? Too much product ? Damned if I know. But none the less it's coming along. The hood is almost done being cut, still needs a good buffing.

First pass at the interior, quick vacuum and wipe down and clean up with clean and shine by shine supply, very good stuff! Still needs to be detailed.

Mmmm, buddy...those shallow "cup holders" in the dash pad were a magnificent GM brain fart, but you've made them be all they can be. The husband of the old gal that sued McDonald's for scalding coffee could've owned a 95 Chevy 1500. :cookiemonster:

Re the residue swirl, if you're not doing that in direct sun (nah, I'd never believe that), you might be loading up the pad with too much material? I've had that happen with 3M Finesse-it II , but not that heavy or consistently. When it's working right, it buffs right to shiny bright. What little dust remains, you can brush off with a towel.

Ok that's what I was thinking, too heavy on the compound. I'll back off for the next run. Thanks

Just a heads up, Shine Supply has offered to set up a 10% discount code for us. I’ll pass it along when they get it to me.

A little much product and maybe working too large of a section.. I'm guilty of that.

If I get any polishing done tomorrow I will cut down on how much of the 105 I use and work in smaller areas. I have plenty of pads so I will swap them out often.

Anyone use a spritz of detailer when they polish. When I did my truck with clear cut and essense, I used a few sprays of carpro immolube on the pad now and then and it really helped prolong the working time, killed any dust, and seemed to keep the pads cooler. I know immolube isnt a detailer but seemed to be a good use for it. Maybe I'll try that with the 105, I forgot about it lol. Unless that is a bad idea?
