Man I swear... this really needs to stop...

The man was out shopping with his wife when he came out to find they were going after his cats. He hit 2 of them but a 3rd is on the run.

    Story here.

It's a pity that those two scumbags survived their injuries , and the officer did not. It would have been nice to have them meet God a lot quicker, and as a bonus, saved the taxpayers the cost of a trial. R.I.P. Officer Almendarez

I think it goes without saying to be wary of these cat thieving cowards as it's clear they're no longer gonna scamper off if you stumble upon them.

I can't help but wonder if he'd have just drawn his weapon before the scuffle would his kids still have a father with them today.

Considering Cats are Federally mandated requirements, theft and/or illegal possession (blind purchasing by scrapyards) of said items should be a Federal Offense punishable by having your genitals dipped into a big bucket of fireants for 30 minutes daily for the rest of your life.

Not to be lost in this story is that there's nothing on your vehicle that's worth leaving your family husband/fatherless. Easy to say, hard to do when you see it happening in front of you though. I'm sure most would feel at least a little shame for not acting but I would be willing to bet Deputy Almendarez' family would make the trade in an instant.

I am quite certain there is a special place in heaven for LEOs and a special place in hell for POS like these thieves.

RIP Deputy Almendarez. 23 years of service. Damn.

May his family, friends, and fellow brothers/sisters in uniform stand united in this difficult time.

I have a lot of cop friends and for the life of me I can't fathom having the patience and self control that it takes to be a cop. I have to admire someone willing to do the job, especially in the present environment. RIP and may his family know strength and peace.

I don't know about where you are but around here the loudest voices seem to be screaming for social workers to be the ones to be responding to any domestics or 911 calls concerning emotionally disturbed individuals. I think it goes along with the narrative that all cops show up at scenes like these with guns blazing, shooting first and asking questions later, never attempting to deescalate at all. Talk about the "big lie," right up there with the "police are out hunting minorities" line of crap. Anyway, we're going to have a lot of severely injured social workers as the masses figure out that this is another delusional bad idea.

This right here. I'm not trying to be a Monday morning quarterback to this situation, but I would definite have my piece unholstered before announcing my presence. Not necessarily pointed at them, but ready. Sad situation.
