Hey y’all, searched this forum and the googled the interweb. I give up!

Forgive what is probably an easy question, but how do you remove the 4WD knob? I want to paint the chrome. Please advise, and thanks!!

Whoa!! Didn’t know AJT were making these! Here’s just for the 4WD knob for those without push start buttons:

    https://www.ajtdesign-llc.com/onlin...Tacoma-2014-Tundra-BLACK-PRE-ORDER-p158794656

There isn’t an installation video yet, but these comments lead me to believe the OEM knob doesn’t just pop off...

“Install is easy, though some dashboard disassembly is required. Factory module is taken apart with a small phillips screwdriver (not included), OEM knob is un-clipped with a small screwdriver (not included). New knob snaps in place like the OEM piece.”

Thanks for the link, I’ve already raped my wallet for AJT knobs, trim pieces, etc and ordered the 4wd knob, and climate trim pieces now to wait for production and shipment.

Definitely liking the blacked out “q” and “p” pieces as I call them, where the center vents are, left and right side of radio......thinking I may wrap those pieces at some point

    Same here!
All he needs to make is a black volume button for the steering wheel controls! I still haven't gotten around to painting mine just yet. I just dont think I can handle the silver button. And I'd rather not paint it since its illuminated.

The black 4x4 ring is now available from MESO. I've ordered one and will confirm if it fits.

I wish he'd do a full kit for tundras, I prefer his stuff to AJTs.

I was in no hurry to de chrome/upgrade my interior until I saw the AJT lineup.

now I may send him part of my wallet. I love that the changes are all reversible down the road if needed.

...unlike that unicorn/kitten/rainbow tattoo I got...

    Is this MESO's website? https://mesocustoms.com/

This site only seems to have parts for Tacomas and 4Runners. Sorry for the newbie question.

Yes that's his site. His ring says in will only fit the Tacoma. But I took chance and just ordered it. It fits without any issues. I believe I'm the first one to try this. The 4x4 switch for the Tacoma and tundra are exactly the same. I've crossed referenced them before ordering as well. Video and link above in post 12
Ajt sells one as well. Just a little pricey.

Is the MESO push start button trim ring the same on a tundra?

Everything went well. I've been looking for a solution to that darn ring. Working on other pieces right now.

Finally getting around to these. What a pain to remove the plastic welds.

Since it's the same knob as the Tacoma it's the exact process meso shows in his video for taking the knob apart. As for removal from the center trim. First remove lower panel with USB port. You can use a trim tool or open the 12v plugs and pull straight out. After you have that piece out, the climate control panel will pull straight out as well. Remove wire clip from back. From there you'll have access to the back of the 4x4 knob. Its tight and was able to do it all by feel. I used a 90 degree pick to press in the clips. There're two clips opposite of each other that you'll press in. Do the bottom one first as it is the hardest. The top one wont be as bad. Then unplug 4x4 selector knob.
Let me know if you need more pictures
