What is the process for debadging and then putting the badges back on? Want to black out my badges but don't wanna do it while they are on.

This YouTube video is what myself and many others have followed to get black badges. As far as debadging I used hair dryer and fishing line and it comes right off.

Mark the location on the truck body with painters tape. Remove them by applying heat with a hair dryer or heat gun (be careful to not overheat them - just get them warm), take some 20lb monofilament fishing line and use a sawing motion between the truck body and the badge. Once removed, use some GooGone to remove the adhesive remaining on the truck body. Once you have repainted your badges, apply 3M tape to the back of the badges and reapply to the truck using the painters tape you used to mark the locations. I used PlastiDip on mine and it was easy, has been on for about 6 months and holding up well. Your choice...

+1 on plastidipping. Get a can of glossifier if you want a little shine. Worked great on mine.

But if you're dead set on taking it off, @RowdyRon covered it all.

Probably mounting tape. If I'm not mistaken, it's black double sided tape with red striping covering the sticky sides.

3M double sided mounting tape. You can find it in narrow width to minimize trimming of the tape. Think I got mine at AutoZone...

Also my buddy was wondering if anyone knows where to buy black out badges? doesn't want to plasti-dip and doesn't want the badge covers

Not aware of anything that will "toughen" it up. I just made sure that I sprayed enough coats to make it thick enough (8 coats).
