Was wondering if anyone has purchased an aftermarket stereo to replace entune? And if so, which ones and what are your experiences? I don't care for how it looks or it's functions and want something more up to date.

    Thanks in advance

Have a pic of how it looks in your truck? Did you change speakers or add an amp?

All I added was the maestro module so that stereo controls work on the steering wheel etc... immediately you will notice a much improved sound.

Thank you, I’m a huge fan of android and CarPlay ... it works with all my Toyota controls .... it’s really a good deck. I hated the Entune.

So it doesn't have navigation or BT connection correct? At least that's what I saw.

It has Bluetooth ...no Nav... Kenwood has a model that does 1 step up but I don’t really need. You can also install a front camera and a hard drive ...I didn’t but wish I had installed a front cam and memory stick 128gb....

I bought one of the Kenwood headunits with Garmin nav. It gets installed along with speakers and amp/woofer on the 12th. I’m pumped.

That looks really good. I think once I'm out of warranty I'll upgrade my stereo. Is that Maestro module just plug-n-play for all the steering wheel controls to work or do you have to do any splicing?

I'm pretty sure with Android Auto and Apple Car Play you can use Google Maps/Apple Maps as navigation right on your head unit's screen. It pretty much defeats the purpose of built-in navigation.

It actually doesn’t but you are correct, you can use Apple maps and display on screen BUT it is only good as long as you have phone service. If you lose your connection you lose the maps.
You can download large maps if you know where you will be but I would rather just have a GPS connection at all times for 100 bucks.

Yes sir ... I actually bought all the parts at a car toys shop....I went in to the dealer to snag my tags and the gm was asking about how I liked my truck... I told him I loved it but hated Entune and all the stereo shops were too expensive...he called them on my behalf and asked that they give m his discount... they took care of me , easy install but I was very slow and watched a ton of YouTube. Dealership will get my repeat business...

The wait absolutely SUCKS!! But I wanted to wait to get into a Best Buy where the install guy has 30 years of experience.

Don't waste your time on the Tesla HU, had one for a month and sent it back becuase of all the issues and lack of quality audio. I also installed a Kenwood 9904 with the idatalink products ( all PnP, camera, OBD2, and SWC), with the exception of attaching the Kenwood harness to the idatalink harness. The sound quality of the Kenwood is amazing, best purchase I have made in a while...

I purchased all my Kenwood and idatalink from Crutchfield, hell I needed an additional part to finish the install and Crutchfield sent the part overnight for Saturday delivery (no cost), you can't beat that customer service.

I use Android Auto through the factory USB/AUX (need an adapter) port and attached a 4TB WD Passport HD with all my lossless (FLAC and DSD) files and the Kenwood lists and plays the files almost instantaneous.

For Navigation via Android Auto you have a choice of Google Maps or Waze, works great.

My setup, Kenwood 9904 - AudioControl DSP - Amps (both AudioControl) JL Audio speakers and subs (2 10")...

    @Stulloh @guyp2k

For the idatalink, does it use the factory microphone for bluetooth handsfree? Having trouble deciding between the idatalink or just using a harness like the Crux SWRTY-61N Wiring Interface

    Any thoughts?

No, microphone is replaced, Bluetooth is built in the head unit. I love the maestro setup...if the stereo didn’t say Kenwood you would not know it’s not factory
