When you set your heat to "Floor" only, do you guys get a little air bleed coming from the dash vents?

Turned the heat on for the first time this morning on my new truck and I am getting bleed through. Is that normal? I know it is annoying as hell. It is faint enough to stop by closing vent. It is not on the setting for both floor and dash.

Cold air on face good. Hot air on face bad.

I noticed on mine, with the ac off and the temp dialed into the cool (blue) setting. Cool air comes into the mix and feels like the ac is working. Annoying, if it is.

Are both of y’alls air set to fresh or recirc?
Fresh will seep air even if the blower is set to off.

Mine does this, it’s a little annoying. I find closing the vent and having them pointed up seems to help the most. I’m wondering if its a CM thing, having the vents in the centre console.

I think recirc only works with the A/C on.

Recirc on, recirc off, ac or heat. Moving or stopped. It always blows through the vents.

Every Toyota I’ve had -5 and counting have always had a slight bit of “fresh” air always circulating- no matter what the controls are set on

This is why I sold my 2018 Tundra and went full bore Ram tough.

Cuz a little fresh air really chaps my ass.

[Yeah, I get it; I've noticed it too. They all do it.] But ask yourself these questions:

    Do I have cancer?

Do I have a rash in my groin area?

Am I making bricks in Pakistan for a dollar a day?

Are my family, friends, and pets safe and well?

I think I'd just let it go ... or obsess about ... hard to tell, really.:hattip:

They do not all do it. The Nissan doesnt do it. My GMC didnt do it. Its a flaw in the system.

A flaw big enough to sell it and buy a Ford? Not even close. But a flaw big enough to say WTF Toyota..AC vents arent new technology, Yep, you bet.

I'm having a different but somewhat related issue; not sure if this is the best place to ask about it or not.

The floor vents in my truck seem to blow lukewarm at best with the temperature turned all the way up. If I switch to defrost or the upper vents, it blows hot. I was just wondering if this is typical for Tundras or something others normally experience or if I should be taking it back to the dealership to get it checked out. I just don't want to go in there only to have them tell me it's operating as intended.

    I have a 2016 Tundra Limited that has same issue. I made an error and purchased a 2019 Highlander SE that does the same thing. We took them into the dealer and they say it normal, but I ask;
What is the selector for? It does not do as advertised, when I want warm air on my feet, it barely comes out on my feet and blows on my face. Something is not right with this. I travel allot and rent many cars made by other manufacturers and when you select a feet mode, it comes out on your feet and not on your face.

If output is set to anything besides full defrost there is airflowing out of the dash vents. There have been other threads confirming that it's just one of the Tundra quirks. If anyone takes their truck in and gets an answer from Toyota, please report back.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
I typically use upper (not dash) vents along with floor vents.

Then based on the temp I dial in, the system blends hot/warm/cool air thru both upper and floor vents.

I think my 3rd gen 4runner has the absolute best cooling/heating system with 4 levels (including the "crotch" level vent), don't understand why Toyota did not use the same 4 level system on other of its vehicles including my Sequoia or Tundra.

So trying adjusting temps and vents for that 'perfect' flow of conditioned air....

The issue is that it is blowing air out of vents that are not selected.

If you have the fan selector knob on "off" and have the recirc button on there will be no air flow coming thru the vents.

Now for your particular question...yes its all Tundras that do that and it's annoying as hell. Actually I believe it's a Toyota problem not just Tundras. There is nothing that can be done to stop the "bleed" of air coming from the dash vents when the selector is on "floor" only. I hate hot air on my face so I have no choice but to close the dash vents and select either defrost or floor only. To make matters worse when it really is cold and your feet are frozen you can choose floor only turn the fan to high and a mediocre flow of hot air comes out of the floor vents....I have better luck wearing double or wool socks than relying on the heater to keep my feet warm.
