It happens so fast that it skips across the deck and right into the ocean. $60,000.00 oops. The wingtip rack if not maintained properly, would release with the amount of g-force put on the jet due to the arresting cable and the jet being in full afterburner just in case the cable snapped or missed all together.

No. They are inspected frequently and swapped out. I never seen one, nor ever wanted to. That kind of energy is like a bomb going off.
