I need help! LOL! My dad turns 60 OCT 6th and I’ve procrastinated and running out of time.
Any ideas? He used to hunt and fish 20 years ago, he’s VERY rightwing/NRA etc. He drinks pretty much any alcohol and enjoys a good whisky or scotch. He has a few AR’s but we don’t shoot as much as we used to.
He’s a Oregon State fan, and UofW fan, used to be a huge Hawks fan but hasn’t been supporting NFL for political reasons lol.
I was thinking a good whisky but don’t know what my local store has that is good. Maybe a custom engraved Yeti tumbler too - but they are two weeks out.
Any ideas will be very much appreciated! :)
Oh - he likes cigars too and I know NOTHING about them! LOL

Congrats to your dad! My mom and her twin brother are turning 60 on the 5th and we're taking them wine tasting in the Willamette Valley. That sounds a little too "prissy" for your dad :D. Blanton's is a great bourbon or a Macallan 12 year is an awesome scotch and neither of them are too ridiculously expensive. Has he ever tried pipe (tobacco of course) smoking? There are some awesome pipes and it's kind of a fun hobby to get into with all the different tobacco blends and just figuring out how to do it.

    Go Beavs!

But we’re out of town for his bday LOL Damnit!

I’m on total wine right now and see the Macallan 12 year! Totally in budget!
I’m on some cigar site too lol
Pipe isn’t a bad idea! - but I’m not sure if he’s reached that level yet. He still looks/acts 50 lol. Pipe might make him feel retired :) lol

Awesome on our Willamette valley trip!
Are you doing the McMinnville/Newberg area?

All he is gonna care about is spending time with you.

Get him a nice bottle you can both share since you'll be out of town. If he wears hats get him a new OSU or UW hat.

Hey I started smoking pipes when I was in my 20s and I still have another 30+ years until retirement! But yeah, we'll be in the McMinnville/Dayton/Dundee area for wine tasting. I'm not really into wine but my mom and her bro love it, so it'll be fun. That Macallan 12 year is seriously good though—he'll love it!

The best gift is your time. There is no amount of money that can buy that back. Go out for a weekend and spend it with him, make some more memories.

You should hit up Domaine Serene! Great wine and killer location. You really can’t go wrong out there. I’m not much into wine, but have began to enjoy it more since our neighbors are a winery/vineyard. We head over and chat with them while drinking a glass or two. We’ve done a few Willamette Valley tours and they’re beautiful/relaxing. I’m a beer guy, but it’s fun to switch it up. Our family friend does wine tours too - Mary with WineDirt.
That’s funny on the tobacco pipe! You’re around my age then (37) lol :)

We were all set to check out Domaine Serene but I guess they have some event going on the day we're going and the public tasting area is closed or something, so we're going to hit up a few others (Stoller, Argyle, and Willakenzie) out there. I've never been but other family and coworkers have said it's great! That's cool you guys have a wine connection as neighbors. But yeah, we're pretty close in age—you've got a few years on me (I'm 31).

As mentioned most importantly spend time with him....he will cherish the memories. Maybe go shoot a few rounds of clays. Or rifle/pistol range time? Take him to lunch or dinner after range time. Charter a deep sea fishing trip?

    Spend time with him.

We were supposed to go Halibut/Salmon fishing in Alaska last month but his shoulder is bothering him and he has to schedule surgery. I should push to make that happen next year after is healed up.

Portland has more strip bars than any place on the planet per sq ft. Not to mention some of the best craft micro brewerys. Long before Colorado's craft beers showed up. (I live in CO but Oregon Hopps are the best). Yeah...the cigars and whiskey are hard to beat!!!!!
