    The truck currentlyIMG_7747.jpg
Hey everyone, I recently acquired a 2019 TRD Sport and have always kept threads for my projects. I plan to modify this truck a bit to suit my small business and growing family, so we will keep track of all that right here. With my existing vehicles being a 2- seater Nissan van (full detailing build inside) and a 1990s K-powered Honda (sold),it was definitely time to get something more useful to us. Below is how I received the truck, as well as a few small things I’ve already done. I plan to keep things mostly OEM, with a few extras along the way.

    1 owner/local service history every 5k
190,040 odometer at time of purchase $23,000 price (the dealership paid 20k for this truck and then spent $1800 on reconditioning, price was originally listed at 25k) & some free maintenance included from my local Toyota. Carfax shows a new fuel pump, transmission & differential services as well as coolant being changed, but I’m still looking into other servicing that’s been done. It also had new calipers, rotors and pads put on before the sale. From here out I will be performing all maintenance aside from my included oil change/tire rotations that came with the truck.

    CURRENT MODIFICATIONS
    - 275/60/20 BFG K02 tires
    -Wireless armrest charger
    -Center console organizer
    -Carven exhuast
    -5” Iboards side steps
    -Bakflip Mx4 tri fold cover
    - LED interior, license plate & 3rd brake lights
    -Diode Dynamics hitch pod
    -Full auto window switch

    WHERE THIS IS GOING:
    -Replace stock 20” wheels ✔️
    -Install transmission cooler
    -200k fluids exchange/ maintenance

    -Katskins?
    -LineX
    -Hot tails LED conversion
    -TRD PRO skid plate
    -SABM/ TRD intake
    -OTT Tune
    -Paint correction & coating
    -Suspension refresh

A few of my past vehicles:

This truck started my love for the Tundra, bought new in 2004 and currently sits at 88k miles. I took my drivers’ test in it,had it with me through highschool and a few years after. I was going to purchase it from him, until he decided to stay away from the 3rd gen Tundras and keep it

The first thing this truck clearly needed were steps (& a car seat)to help my daughter & wife out. Doing the step install alone & on a slope isn’t recommended.

Added my favorite ceramic spray once they were aligned.

Looking very Costco-ready, but definitely appreciated by my ladies!

Next was something to keep my gear dry & secure in the bed. A local shop quoted me $1300 for an MX4 installed, and $1250 OUTD in a box :rofl:so off to marketplace I went. After 1 week I found this Bakflip 2hrs away from an older gentleman. $300 and a short road trip later, she was home ! We also clocked 17mpg average on the return trip compared to 15 the way there :bananadance: buddy volunteered to do the final tighten, this thing is pretty damn heavy as well !

It drives like a dream on the highway. There’s just enough exhaust note inside the cabin, and even with the tires it still gets 20mpg at 65mph according to the display. Thank you to the previous owner for such a sweet exhaust, despite some ugly welds.IMG_6210.jpg

Carven exhaust. Oh my. Those things sound bad ass. Right up there with Led Zeppelin.

Welcome aboard from CA (Central Alabama, by way of Portland Oregon (all those years ago when Portland was soooo great)).

Bringing us to today, (truck was purchased 10/30/25) I had a small bit of time to address this badge that has been annoying me. A quick compound & polish later and it was looking pretty good, but it will need sanding in the future to be fully restored. I decided to also quickly hit the headlights and apply a marine grade coating to all 3 pieces.

Congrats on the truck and welcome to the forum. She's a beaut! I got a 2wd Sport 2 years ago and she's come a long way from being stock.
Sounds like you already know what you're doing as far as mods and maintenance(especially having a project car).
Good time to stock up on OEM parts for future maintenance through Fred Anderson's 25% off. As far as oil dealer oil changes, I wouldn't want any dealer touching my truck, they can mess things up. Ditch the k&n oiled air filter and get either a disposable of a dry/washable filter. The oil from k&n can dirty up your MAF.

Thank you! I have been planning on changing the filter to oem or a performance dry. I definitely understand where you’re coming from with the stealership, but this one in particular I have family members that are on staff and a very good personal history with the service dept, as well as the truck going there it’s whole life before my ownership. I just might do some shopping on that 25% off, thank you!

Had a few extra min after work and decided to remove the TRD decals from the bed.

A few min turned into 2 hrs giving the truck its’ first wash under my possession. Employee still under training. IMG_6451.jpg

For those of you who like the griots’ garage ceramic products,(or if you’re just looking for an extremely fast & easy way to “wax” your truck) take 3 oz of this into a 32 Oz spray bottle or foam cannon & fill the rest with water. Spray on a freshly washed truck (but still wet) and immediately rinse off for 90+ days of si02 protection. This stuff layers with the 3/1 wax, liquid ceramic wax, and any other ceramic based product or coating. Beads water like crazy and adds a nice gloss, but use it as a sealant & not a cleaning soap. Not a bad shine for such low lighting.

After getting rained out the other day, there was enough of a break to finish cleaning & dressing the diff/sway bar and install my new Diode Dynamics hitch light. This stuff is the real deal

Pics at night, this light is awesome for reverse. I have LED license plate lights, and with the DD one added it blows up the rear camera. I’ll be adding the block off plates to hopefully fix this. IMG_7398.jpg

Spending a little time with a buddy on the Honda. This may be going to a new home soon to make room/budget for other activities so we’re getting all the little things cleaned up that I’ve been putting off :spending:IMG_6491.jpg

Another badge down, the TUNDRA stays for now.. there’s a bit of ghosting leftover, but for now I’m satisfied

A couple goodies showed up during a break in the rain  the stock antenna drove me crazy and so did my oversized water bottle not having a home. This forum is too good at getting the ol wallet out.

I decided the first real modification I make to this truck will be adding the trans cooler, so I made a stop by toyota for the OEM parts to get things going. It’s a 2019 with almost 200k miles, so I figure this is the best place to start. IMG_6893.jpg The parts list used was from @Terndrerrr ‘s build thread for the OEM side of the install, although the prices have increased.

Welcome! We have the same truck minus the steps. I'm ready for my KO2s to be swapped out as well, 20s to 18s. I was hesitant on full badge removal, but recently debadged everything (excluding tailgate letter inserts) and I'm so glad I did. Gets the plastic look off and creates a clean side profile.

Thank you, I did notice our trucks are kinda twins. My daughter is 4 & was worried if I take off the TUNDRA, nobody will know what kind it is :rofl:but I always thought the 5.7 badge was oddly placed. I like the k02 tires, but the wet traction could be better. Are you going with k03 for the 18s or considering a different type ?

My son (4yo) would've said the same thing! I snuck 'em off after he went to bed and hasn't notice. This age has been so fun, daughter just turned 2. Agreed on the 5.7 badge placement, once removed I thought the tundra looked off so everything went. Easier to wash/wax and take care of, someone with your talents may appreciate. I'm thinking 295/70/18 Nokian nAT, hear lots of good things. KO3s are pricey and heavy.

I haven’t come across those, I’ll have to check
them out. 295/70 will be nice and beefy, I was working on a 00s duramax yesterday that had 275/70s on and they didn’t exactly seem small

295/70/18, E rated. 21 lbs less per tire is huge.

    KO3 - 66lbs / tire
    Nokian nAT - 45lbs / tire

I had a job get moved at the last minute and free my day up to get the Tundra in some snow. We loaded up the sleds & some spare gear and took off for a Mt. Hood day trip. The K02 tires drove beautifully in 2wd, but I did put it into 4HI to get some of those “monthly” exercise miles.

The only thing saving this truck from complete grandaddy status is the lack of chrome & wonderful sound the Carven makes.IMG_6927.jpg IMG_6925.jpg My wife’s Lexus NX is happy to have a break from adventure duty (here’s Smith Rock with a fresh dusting that she plowed right through) the AWD on that vehicle is a champ.

Many of these campgrounds are closed to motors for the season, but there’s plenty to do on foot still.

Did something happen to Nokian tire prices overnight?
Also not seeing Nokian Outpost nAT 295/70-18 tires as 45#.

Discount tire shows them at 45 lbs each & $425, I was looking at the 285/75/18. I wonder where the discrepancy comes from in the listings. - they have the 295/70 at $389 each and it also says 45 lbs.

Despite the mileage, I thought so as well. I went and looked at other trucks with under 100k on them that were far more money and in worse shape. I plan to do a complete fluid refresh & other maintenance at the 200k birthday, so I’m gathering things now. I’ve been super happy with this truck, it’s almost at 193k now :D

I'm guessing the pricing is a computer glitch.
I don't think the weight is. Discount Tire probably has it listed under a different size. No way is an E-rated 295/70-18 tire coming in at 45#. It isn't the first time I've seen Discount Tire list incorrect weight.

I’m used to 15” wheels & 205 tires, all these weights sound crazy to me

If you wanna feel better about these weights check out the mickey Thompson Baja boss ATs. They have to be some of the heaviest tires I've seen that have come out.

Are you gonna keep the 20s for winter and run dual setups or are you gonna do a one and done deal?

I do plan on keeping my 20s. Any oem parts that come off this truck will get stored for later, I don’t have any plans to ever sell it, but that’s something I’ve always done. With all the different brands, sizes & weights, I’ve found out the wheel/tire rabbit hole is a deep one o_O
