2002 Tundra SR 5 120K miles. Sweet ride but it needed a tranny OH. After it came out of the transmission shop, the cruise control didn't lock on.

Pushing button in lights up "cruise" on the panel, and the cable to the speed sensor is intact. Did a quick power ck on the fuses and seemed to all be solid.

Hoping for a good steer on next Trouble shooting step.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Check the throttle body connection to the cruise control. I'm not too familiar with the 3UZ, but from what I can gather I had a cable throttle body which would go to a black box from the accelerator pedal, a mechanical cruise contol where the speed would lock, before it went down to the actual throttle body. If this is disconnected, then you can activate cruise, but it wont hold speed. It may be a separate ECU that has this, but I hope this helps some.

Discovered that not only is the cruise control inop, so are the back up lights. The shop that did the transmission is experienced. What could have happened that affects both the cruise control and the back up lights. As I understand it, these two functions are controlled by two distinct switches in the transmission.
    Help!

Kinda sounds like the prndl switch isn't plugged in or something. The PCM needs to see the signal that the trans is in forward gear to allow cruise, and then no reverse lights to boot

I would have guessed a loose vaccum line somewhere for the cruise...if they still use vaccum? Or ever did..lol
