Well I bought a 2019 Limited last week and I love it. I noticed an issue with my bed a couple of days ago. It looks twisted. I brought it in today for its first stick and the tech says he has never seen that before and suspects it is due to the difference in spring rate because of the 38 gallons of gas. Well the tank was full so one would think it would settle if that is true.
Tom the service advisor called and said they isn’t any adjustment and it is what it is. Not a good answer. Anyone experience this issue?

post picture. I'm sure it can be adjusted somewhat with the bed bolts. Are you sure you are not talking about the Tundra lean ?

Pictures please. My 2015 tundra had a similar issue where the right rear tire stuck out more than the left rear, can’t remember what it was all about but apparently it was ok. My service guy said he never saw anything like it then he and I walked the lot and found others with the same issue.

Think you’re right, we did notice it was not as noticeable on some models.

that's most likely related to how well the bed is centered on the frame. you can look at the bed by the cab to check.

Most Tundras are like this. Run your hand behind the rear bumper on top and you will see the differences as far as gap space.

Here is the pic from the back. It is worse to the eye. The service dept acknowledged there is an issue and started a case with Toyota. I am not sure where they measured from, but the right side was lower. A case manager will be calling today. This should be fun. Up close like this is doesn't look bad. From about 20 feet away it is worse.

Yeap. Me 18 with a lift. They put it on a level spot in the shop. Measurements from top of tire to the fender and then to center of rim to fender was an 1.5 different from passenger side. They told me they have .5 different most of the time. They replaced the bushing on right side. Helped some. Good luck

Literally just posted about my bed. Luckily I did some measuring and all the height differences are in my leaf springs. My passenger side is measuring lower at the wheel well to the ground and frame to axel compared to the driver side. Hope yours is suspension related cause that’s an easy fix

Update on my Tundra. 3 reps from the region looked at the truck today at the dealership. 4 hours later I was informed that I will be getting a new truck. There was no explanation why the truck looked twisted. Leaving the black behind and going with gray metallic.

Well no surprise but the dealership pulled the new truck offer and sent me to arbitration. During the process they tried to fix it by adding a 4mm shim to get the twist out. Half the twist is gone but now the gap between the bumper and bed on the right side is off that amount. Bottom line is that the frame is off. Toyota said it is just an "Appearance Issue". I wrote to the NCDSUSA.COM and filed complaint and my hearing is scheduled for December 17th. The dealer wants to try to work with me but Toyota has told them to remain hands off while this process is underway. Toyota isn't on my Christmas card list this year.

Ugh...to have to go through this on a new truck!
Good luck in arbitration. I hope they get you squared away.
After so many years of making this model w/o serious changes to the nuts and guts of the trucks how could this slip through the cracks? Seems it should have been flagged VERY early on in the build process. Hell, you would think a body shop that fixes trucks that have been hit and bent could make it straight...maybe not though if it has *never* been straight to begin with.

Edit to add - I had a Nissan V6 small truck years ago. Once when talking to the service writer he noticed that it had a fender replaced at the factory. Seems it got damaged before it even left. Nobody - no other service writer, certainly no salesman or anyone else who had access to the info had told me. (might explain the PITA with alignment problems at first)

Ask to see EVERYTHING on the record for that VIN.

I took it to a body shop that the dealership uses and they were very surprised how it looked and didn’t know how to fix it. Toyota took it to a dealership with a frame machine to measure everything and found the Frame to be off. I’ll know in 30 days.

Strange that an error this big in the manufacturing of this truck frame passed through the plant without anyone noticing. Everything is so automated now with laser measurements and robotic preciseness that I'm surprised the frame made it to the unification process with the body and then the mistake was still never spotted. Then it passed final inspection and isn't that what the final inspection is for, that is, are all the gaps correct and are all the pieces aligned properly to catch any mistakes like in this instance of the frame being bent?

Toyota should just admit it's a mistake and bring this truck in as a learning tool.

I have a similar issue on my 18 but I’m thinking it may be driver side lean that makes it look uneven from the back.

I am very disappointed with Toyota. Once the dealer has the truck, Toyota won’t deal with the customer. Once the arbitration starts, the dealer won’t deal with the customer either.

Just an appearance issue? LMFAO! If it’s just an appearance issue, why would you even buy a truck if it’s appearance looks like shit. I’m sure had you noticed it before you signed the paper you would’ve said no. Sounds like a copout to me from them.Seems like it would be smart for them to just give you a new truck. Then they can sell your old truck at a discounted rate to someone else. Obviously with a disclaimer. Good luck!

Yep, give the customer a new truck, and take this truck back and if I was Toyota, I'd make the truck available to Toyota employees for purchase at a substantial discount with the understanding that the frame is bent hence the substantial discount. I wouldn't even allow the truck to go to the general public for purchase. Or, give Toyota employees the ability to bid on the truck for purchase, with them knowing this issue.

    Toyota used to be great.

    Now not so much.

Damn shame a company kills itself so fast

People used to ask me why I buy Toyota.
I would say that if they fuck up they kill themselves out of honor.

Now it is just another company like Ford or Chevy

Just bought a used sr5 Crewmax and I have the same issue. Doesn’t seem like they will do anything about it. Guess I’ll just have to pretend it’s not there.

Well it has finally come to an end. Filed a lawsuit and the dealer and Toyota settled with me. Received enough of a settlement to put down on a new truck. Fingers crossed on this one.
