Has anyone put crewmax running boards on a double cab?

It would look fine as long as it didn’t rub the back tire. You may have to cut some off since the crew Max is longer. But I like running boards that go under the bed. You can reach into the bed. Measure the distances on each truck and see how or where the mounts are. Good luck with it

I'm thinking maybe the side steps are the same ones installed from the port, on both cabs. That is the factory installed 5" oval side steps, black, and chrome.

Pretty sure it’s the same wheelbase just different cabs and beds.

Boards will be fine. If you get tubes or others that have steps, the location of the rear steps might be too far back and look out of place.

Verify the bolt/bracket locations. There are mounting holes in the rocker panel, and on mine the rear bolt holes are almost all the way back. The brackets on my steps are however adjustable, so it should work on a DC, but if they are not adjustable and made for a CM only, you will have to do some fab work.

I don’t think so the cab is longer on the crew max the steps go under the cab. Post some pics show me Where I’m wrong. Exhaust systems are the same because of same wheel base.

I just talked to my parts back counter guy, and he says they actually might be a different part, lol, since I never installed a set side by side I couldnt really compare them but they seemed the exact same. I'll go out and measure w my tape so we can make sure

Wheel base is the same, but the CM cab is definitely longer than the DC - no way around that. DC is shorter cab, longer bed, same wheel base.

915Tundra has confirmed above that the steps will fit regardless.

On the double cab the steps extend out slightly futher past the cab corner, as where on the crew max they are pretty much even w the cab.

Is the crew max bed 5 1/2 foot ? Either way that’s a foot or foot and a half difference in Cab length. I don’t know how they make that up

The cab length is not a foot and a half bigger than the double cab. The crew max is 1 foot larger cab and 1 foot shorter bed than the double cab. They just make it up in cab and body.

Hmmm, The difference in CM vs DC cab/bed is about 1 ft. The CM step is about flush with the end of the cab. It does not look like the DC step sticks 1 ft past the cab. They might be different length steps.

When I use my eyeball measuring tape they do look like different length steps. The only thing consistent in the photos are the front doors of both trucks. If you compare that, the Crew Max steps look to be about 6 to 8 inches longer LOL

So, what did we ever figure out on this? Does it work?

I'm thinking to buy some bed access running boards, but it would be a lot cheaper just to buy a used Crewmax set.

You can use the crew max boards on the double cab. They will bolt up but the board will be unsupported after the end of the cab where the box starts so you might not want to step on it.

Well, the whole idea is to step on it to access the bed. Hey, can you tell how far the metal goes on the bottom? On my double cab the metal part stops about a foot short from the end. So, I can step on the end and it supports me but it feels a little shaky cuz it's not over the metal...

The running board is going to overhanging the last support for about 26". I dont think it would be possible to step on it even if the board could take it the two 8mm bolts for the support might not.

When I bought my 16 DC it had N-fab steps on it (mounted on cab). after 1 time off road I bent them a bit and moved to Sliders (mounted on frame). I was going to give them to my neighbor with a 15 crewmax. It would not fit. The mounting spots on the cab are in different spots. If you are mounting on the frame it "should" work since it's the same frame.

Lots of the boards have mounts that can slide in a track on the board so you can mount as required

So can someone answer with a yes or no? I found a set on which Website says they fit Crewmax(double cab) Yet in the diagram it highlights double cab only...

This for the normal chrome running boards, not the ones that extend to the bed

I just bought XSP OEM crewmax running boards and they do not bolt up on the last part towards the bed. The welded bracket hits the cab Mount.
