600 for 4 months of spot free rinsing? I have other priorities for that kind of cash other than cleaning my truck. This is why I have silver and not black. Plus if I want spot free rise its $2.00 at the car wash down the street.

Then why are you even reading the thread, since you have other priorities? Apparently some people have more disposable income than others. I wonder if that’s true everywhere, or just on truck sites.

Here’s an idea. If something doesn’t interest you, move on. You contribute nothing by shitting on other people’s discussions.

    ATTENTION, PLEASE READ!!!!

I used my unit yesterday, and the meter already jumped to “1”. Anything other than a zero on that meter means it’s no longer effective.
I was getting two months from CR’s cartridges, and the di Rinse kit is supposed to extend that by a wide margin. Instead, I only got two weeks. At the moment, I’m assuming I made an error somewhere causing this, and am contacting DI Rinse for advice.

Until I update here, I want to make sure no one buys this based on my recommendation. Like I said, I’m working under the assumption that it is user error on my part.

@Omohundro I know you ordered based on what I said. Please be aware of the issue I’m having, so use your judgement whether to use it until I get it figured out. I apologize to you, and anyone else who pulled the trigger based on my recommendation. When you asked, it was working perfectly. I am very sorry this didn’t happen before you asked. If I can’t get it figured out I will try to make it right with you.

In the two weeks, I believe I washed seven vehicles. The smallest was a Jeep. It’s possible I didn’t secure the tubes in my unit properly, but I didn’t have time to take it apart. It’s the only thing I think I could have done to affect the performance.
The only other factor I can think of is that my pressure washer is the max gpm the unit is rated for. This will use more water than a smaller pressure washer would, but I don’t think it should have made that big of a difference.

    WARNING: Partial thread jack.
Do you have a Fleck System and did you install it?
    Which system?
I have mildly hard water living in coastal NC. Our towns do a fairly good job to try and contain it, but we still get spotting on glassware and showers. My Spruce Mica Tundra requires immediate drying or going to a car wash with spot-free rinse. I'm interested in a whole house system, but there are so many damn choices, opinions, companies, etc.... The Fleck systems have interested me, I don't know anyone that has one though.

I’ve sent them an email, and will post their response as soon as I get it. I’ll admit I don’t use the unit as efficiently as I should. I use it all the way through the wash, instead of only on the final rinse.

That said, they claim their products last 40% longer than CR’s cartridges, so there’s no reason it should have had worse results. If I was getting two months from the cartridges, I should’ve gotten almost three from this. I used it in the exact same way I did before.

I have not, but a whole house solution is definitely on my wish list. Ours is extremely hard. It’s a battle to keep spots off the shower and countertops.

Since others may be interested in a whole house softener: In our area of the Hill Country, water flows through a lot of limestone: 28 grains per gallon. Ordered my Fleck 5600SXT-48K off Amazon. The two of us use about 6K gallons of water per month. If your water company over-chlorinates, you'll need a BIG inline upstream charcoal filter for dechlorination to prevent premature media service; my charcoal filter is about 0.5 cubic foot.

The Fleck replaced a Kinetico 2030s with two media cylinders. The Kinetico regenerates by volume used rather than time, and the touted dual bed system always had a regenerated bed ready for switch-over. Regeneration while using is a non-issue...the Fleck regenerates on seven day cycle (or sooner if we use an abnormal amount of water one week), but it always happens at 2:00 am.

My Kinetico didn't give me much trouble, but when it did, the service was proprietary, expensive, and had to come out of Austin. :(

Update. Checked my unit last night. One of the tubes had come loose, guess I didn’t secure it properly. I wasn’t able to test it after I put it back together, but this was likely the issue.
