I was sitting at a red light behind a row of cars, light turned green, accelerated to make it through, but then quickly stopped when light turned yellow and the guy in front of me stopped. My truck shut off while coming to a stop. This issue is especially concerning because if I would have needed to accelerate again I couldn’t have. I proceeded to shift to park as instructed and started the truck. Everything seemed normal until I accelerated away from the light. Truck was super slow then surged quickly. After that, no issues. See photo for the notifications I got on the dash.
I typically drove with two babies in the car, so am now worried this may happen in a dangerous situation.
    Anyone experienced something similar?

I've seen a few post where trucks have died at random times. I believe one was turning into a steepish driveway.
Based off your situation and the others, it almost sounds like they have a fuel pump shut off install that trips when rolled that isn't set up right/too sensitive.
Everyone has said the truck started right back up and off they went when it's happened. Yours being sluggish for a few seconds could very well have been some air in the fuel lines that got worked out and off you went.
Obviously, I'm just guessing, so take what I say with a fine grain of salt

That’s a reasonable analysis. definitely felt like lack of fuel when I accelerated through the intersection.
I’ve seen others with the issue at slow speeds on a driveway as well, but concerned this happened to me in heavy traffic at consequential speeds.

Yeah. Sounds like it could also possibly think the truck had an accident and it kills the fuel supply.

That could be realistic. I stopped quickly, but not crazy. Assuming there are accelerometers that sense impacts (deceleration and jerk). If this is the case, the calibration is way off or the sensors are faulty. This stop was nowhere close to an accident.

Its definitely plausible. An accelerometer or yaw sensor might need adjustment. If the truck recorded it as a crash that info would be stored

This has happened to me once in 6500 miles. I was pulling into a store and a vehicle pulled in front of me very quickly. Other than that, I have not had it happen.

Pretty similar situation. Did you have the same “engine stopped, steering power low, soft to park” notifications ?

could this be from the start stop system, has anyone had this while that system is off?

I had a hard time on my test drive parking in my garage which is super tight, like trying to creep forward, there were so many nannies controlling the truck it felt odd.

I have to wonder if all these system are just to much to try and get all to work together at this point.

it sounds like they need a pretty comprehensive refresh at this point to iron out all these things, I keep waiting to see one come out so I can be more comfortable buying one

At the dealer. High level diagnostics show a power steering issue. Not concerned about power steering issue as much as I am a short or electrical gremlin causing the shut off. More info to come… hopefully later today.

This, not sure why there is so much guesswork going on with things like this.

Disclaimer: I won't have my new Tundra for a week or two.

I don't think anything is wrong with your truck. I have had that happen several times in different vehicles. I think the hard acelleration and sudden slow down does something that can stall a vehicle. It almost feels like it's choking out. I am not an expert, but maybe a mechanic can shed more light on this.

no, that would never be considered normal operation. I know it’s become common for modern transmissions with adaptive learning and 10 speeds to do some strange things but stalling would never be acceptable

Toyota is actively working on root cause and resolving the issue. That means it’s a known issue and something is wrong. I have an active case with corporate and we’ll see where it leads. Dealer found code(s) they haven’t seen before. I’ll be getting more detail later.

Got some codes. Dealer didn’t know what to make of them.

    Steering electrical and sensors: C14FE14, U012687, U114F87

    then a few more: U012987, U011487, U110387, U010087, U014087, U015587

Look at you, being the new DTC guinea pig. I’m curious about what your build date is… According to my VIN mine is January. I’m hoping I don’t have any wonky issues when my truck gets delivered. Toyota should make you whole by extending your warranty.

Yeah but a fun place to be in necessarily. I believe my build date was in February. If this ends up being the only issue and can be resolved, I’ll be happy cause the truck is awesome.
One way or another, I hope they make it right.

I've had that happen a couple times in several vehicles, a hard start hard stop on the brakes and when I go to press the go pedal the engine has stalled. Usually when I am low on fuel. No need for you to shift into park you can pop it in neutral turn the key and go.

Hasn't happened in a long time so I don't give it much thought.

dont think that might work with the new PTS system interlock, but then again i havent tried with my 14 4runner. our 18 tundra still has a physical key.
