I installed components in the front doors and coaxials in the rears of my 18 tundra with JBL. I have the Taco Tunes 5 channel amp and ReCurve. The fronts are pretty harsh even with the recurve high frequency turned almost all the way down. Does the factory amp crossover the speakers originally? So putting a component system in with its own crossover is kind of defeating the purpose? Its kind of like an already crossed over signal is now getting crossed over again with the component crossover?

Man that sucks, I was thinking about putting that same system on my tundra. Do the rears sound terrible too?

I know this thread is old, did you ever get this resolved?

I bought and installed ********* System 1 with Recurve (because I have the JBL system). It's sounds great, except there's not enough mids. I sound deadened everything, except the ceiling. Still, the mids are lacking. Tried adjusting the Recurve, little to no effect.

I hear good and bad reviews fro taco tunes, I’m a Texas boy and want to support my guys here but I don’t like their high prices. It seems like they only want to install high end systems and I’m just looking for more clarity and crispness in my sound.

I hear you...I like what I got, but need more of a balance. I'm in Grand Prairie, if you're near, I'd be happy you show you.

Hey thanks man. I’m over in Odessa so I’m about 5 hours away but I appreciate the offer.

So you did a complete install of the ********* system?

Yup, it took me 16 hours (2 days). Sound deadened the doors, rear wall and passenger floor. Didn't do the driver side floor. Was really tired after the rest of it.
I will tell you that they have videos, but you have to find them. And, I called and talked with Daniel a few times to get the tuning right (first time using a multimeter). NetMonkey has a great set of instructions.
However, I do miss the sound coming from the front center, just my preference.

Yea I’m more leaning towards better highs than hard hitting bass. I’d be fine with some hard hitting mids and good tweeters really.

Was the sound deafening material worth all the hassle?

Yes, definitely must. In truth, if you only do the sound deadening, you'd be better than you started.

Whoa really? What’s the science behind it? I thought all it was doing was keeping the sound in the cab

It does keep the sound in. The mids really jump out and the bass gets a little deeper. I went with the noico stuff from Amazon, much more inexpensive than dynamat. And in my opinion, sounds the same

Thanks for your help man. Did you hear your jbl system before the new speakers with the noico in place?

Also, did you upgrade your head unit? I read on here one guy swapped it out to an aftermarket and got great results without modifying his jbl speakers.

No, I did the sound deadening with the ********* setup, but I've talked with others that have and they said the same.
No, I've not replaced my HU, but I'm still in the market. Been reading about android HU Tesla model, but it has so many issues. But, those guys that have only changed there HU has said that it's a huge improvement.

Yup. I think I’ll be doing that first instead of the speakers. I really don’t like my head unit now. Controls and kind of clunky and I have trouble pairing my phone.
