I've been semi-active on the boards here since getting my 2017 Tundra Crewmax Limited TRD in Blazing Blue. Mostly, I've been doing research and following others builds. My plan has been to focus initially on the mechanical side, leaving visual (color matching, etc.) till later.

I finally made some decisions and started purchasing. The building has begun. Thought I'd document some of my changes.

Started with this. Stock other than Spidertrax wheel spacers.IMG_2672[1].jpg

    Here's where I'm at now:

    • Front window tint
    • Toyota tri-fold bed cover (removed - hail damage)
    • Clear bra
    • Spidertrax 1 1/4" wheel spacers (removed)

    • Hypertech In-Line Speedometer Calibrator Module
    • RCI Engine Skid - Steel
    • Removed spare tire guides
    • Undercover Swing Case - Passenger side

Some pictures from King install. One of my buddies came over for an afternoon and we installed ourselves. Should have taken more pictures, but it started to get dark and cold and was taking longer than we anticipated. Overall, the install went great and I'm super happy with it.

Started with the rear, installing King 2.5 remote reservoir and Toytec shakles, installed at the second hole.IMG_2786[1].jpg IMG_2789[1].jpg

Then moved on to the front. King OEM 2.5 with remote reservoir. Changed out the UCA's to SPC at the same time. Had looked at the Total Chaos and Camburg UCA's, but advice was to go with the SPC's from multiple sources. Passenger side went on relatively smoothly. Was expecting the driver to be better since we knew what we were doing. Instead, we ended up spending twice as long trying to get everything to fit and in place. Not sure what we were doing wrong, but it sure was wrong. But took a break and figured it all out.IMG_2804[1].jpgIMG_2794[1].jpg

Front lift was a bit under 3 inches. Rear a bit over 1. Was left with a rake of about 1 inch.

Thanks guys. Have a few more projects in the works, just waiting on parts or warm weather (or time off work).

A few additional notes from what I've done so far. First, I purchased my Kings and SPC UCA's from Filthy Motorsports here in Boulder, CO. Great, honest advice, personal service, they have the shocks tuned to your needs and shipped directly to you and still the lowest prices I could find. Very happy with how that has all turned out so far.

The front King shocks didn't come with any instructions. I called King 15 minutes before they closed on a Friday and was immediately put in touch with someone with what I needed, who had them emailed to me within 5 minutes. Again, great customer service. That said, I'm not sure why King doesn't just have their instruction sheets available on their website. Would have been easier and I would have liked to look at them before my shocks arrived.

    Up next: front skid plate

Blue does rock. Like what you've been doing to your Azul, especially the headlights. Very nice.

    Sweet looking Tundra!

I recommend Filthy Motorsports as well Matt. I purchased one set of Kings from them as well.

Set-up and installed a Hypertech In-Line Speedometer Calibrator tonight to account for the larger tires. Install went fine, though taking the entire dash apart one piece at a time is a bit nerve wracking the first time. Was dark early, so ended up using a head-lamp to tell what I was doing, which added an extra bit of excitement to the affair. Lost one screw, but luckily had a fit in the extras bin so everything went back together just fine. Seems fine in slow driving around the neighborhood. Will test out fully tomorrow at higher speeds to see if I set everything up correctly.

Since I had to remove the skid plate to install my lift, decided to upgrade. Installed a RCI front skid. Steel, powder coated black. Install was straightforward and didn't take too long, even doing it without help. Quite the upgrade over the stock TRD. Planning on slowly expanding backwards with RCI skids as the budget allows.

Need the truck bed free to carry all of my son's hockey goalie gear, so need to store the 35" spare under the bed. My spare is the same wheel/tire that I'm running normally, so knew it wouldn't fit without some work. After reading a bunch of posts here, decided to remove the spare wheel guides under the truck. Drilled out the bolts holding it in, using a progression of larger drill bits. Once it was close, used a hammer and chisel to knock them off. A bit of black paint and was able to get the spare under with enough room to be okay. Had to push it a bit forward to be where I want it. It's tight, but fits.

It's stayed where I want so far, but I'm a bit worried that it'll move after a while. May look at adding something to keep it in place better.

I believe it was one of your recommendations that got me looking at them in the first place. Ben at Filthy Motorsports was super helpful. Honest advice, didn't try to sell anything I didn't need and spent a lot of time on the phone making sure it was perfect.

Thanks. It's starting to turn into what I want. Of course, the more I read around here the more I want to do... Exhaust, gears, grille, storage... Keep finding more projects than money allows.

Still have them. Haven't had a chance to do anything with any of my parts yet. Interested? They're in great shape with only about 3000 miles on them. Work great. Have them back in their original box and even have all the instructions still.

The boys and I took the truck out today to see how things handle with all the recent changes. Headed up to the top of the Switzerland trail near Nederland. Snow on the ground and started to come down pretty hard. Went in a mile or so from the top.
    IMG_2864[1].jpg

As we were alone and I didn't have proper recovery gear, we decided to go with discretion and turned around instead of taking the trail all the way thru. Still, pretty cool and truck handled everything great. No issues with traction and ride was pretty smooth. We headed over to Mud Lake just to see what we could find. Did realize that no mud flaps and wider tires spray the truck pretty good.

Some mud flaps may be in order. The boys found an old bus frame with wind chimes inside to play with. Was pretty cool.

Fun day in the Tundra. Need to get recovery gear for Christmas to get ready for some real playing.

That's a nice area up there. Usually more snow and all it takes is one big snow drift to ruin the day......nice pics.

Snow wasn't too bad, but with the kids I didn't want to take any real chances. Looking forward to going back again when properly prepared. Thanks for the complement on the pics.
