So my father in law spilled coffee all over over the passenger seat and it went down all over the bottom carpet. The smell just pisses me off.

Any good suggestions. Already went to a detailer but the smell is still there and lingers around.

I’m thinking of either ripping out the carpet for both the front and rear and replacing with new since the smell just gets to me. Probably cost $2-3k to do it.

Or just selling the truck back and getting a new one and eat up the loss and sales tax again.

Even if it spilled in one my older cars I still be angry.

Either way, I’m just angry at this point. Any other suggestions would be good.

Spilled an iced coffee in my passenger seat this past spring. Shit smelled terrible for 4-5 months. The smell is finally gone!

So are you going to spend 2-3k every time someone spills something in the truck? Get some floor liners and call it a day. You hate it because it's so new, but you bought it for everyday use, not for a museum display, right?

But I do feel your pain. The first scratch, first spill, etc. are always hard.

Got the floor liners, went around it.
Even had the car gap cushion but the coffee just went around it as well. Just soaked right into it and into the back carpet.

I don’t have the best sense of smell, but the smell on this is so overwhelming.

External stuff is easy to deal with, but the smell is something else. I’m just a bit OCD.

I had a buddy spill a full 24oz coffee all over my carpet before I had floor liners. I scotch guarded the crap out of everything in the truck so it didn't do to much damage. Also it was cheap coffee so it didn't really have a strong odor. I'd try scotch guard might seal the smell in. You could also wash the carpet yourself with one of those rug doctors that's might help. The coffee is probabaly in the padding so it's gonna be pretty hard to get out.
I remember the first couple times my truck got a scratch, stain, or just plain dirty. That pissed me off. First guy that scratched my truck said, "well it's broke in now." I wasn't to happy. But I'm over it now it's a truck I got it to use it not look at it or only drive it on certain days.

Ouch! Did the same myself in the back seat, just got it in my aftermarket mats so I wasn’t too worried (still there after a month gotta get around to cleaning them)
Step number one- get some waterproof mats (maxpider, husky, weather tech)
Step two - scotchguard your seats
Step three - get a carpet shampooer and after, put a few fans directed in your truck to dry out with doors open.
Step four - ban your father in law from having drinks in your truck ever again

^^^ This. Then take it to a detail shop that has an Ozone generator and have them Ozone it for an hour or two.

I’ll try that solution. The other detailer didn’t help at all with the smell.

Do you know what the detailer did? Did he remove the seats and steam clean thoroughly? Even the sides of the seats and all in the creases? Maybe Ozone it? Or did he just spray some Febreeze on it and call it a day? I would try removing the seat and after steaming the crap out of the carpet, leave the seat out for a couple of days to see if it's the carpet or the seat that's smelling. But man, even if the smell goes away, if it takes the new car smell with it... I'd be pissed.

If it was snowflake Starbucks I would kick his ass. If it was black rifle coffee then he should understand and have it worked out perfect for you.

Ditto. Hell, the kids grabbed some cookies yesterday and tried to bring it in my wife’s highlander (which I just cleaned inside and out on Saturday)

I told them “oh hellll no. Finish those cookies outside of the vehicle first.”
