My wonderful wife of 31 years decided she wanted to clear some clutter from the kitchen counters and after looking a bit online for some ideas she thought it would be great to have a coffee/tea bar.

Being the awesome husband that I am, I say "let's do it"!!! One condition though, since we're planning on redoing the kitchen/breakfast area next year, and anything we do is going to be temporary, lets do it on the cheap.

Soooooo, here's the solution I came up with. Easley resold or repurposed after we redo the kitchen in a year or so.

    1 ea. Dresser - found on CL - $100
1 ea. Granite top - remnant from local countertop co. - $75
2 ea. Poplar Shelves - Splurged here and purchased from local WoodWorkersSource - $50
    4 ea. Shelf Brackets - Home Depot - $30
3 ea. Candelabra light sockets - Home Depot - $7.50

    Total - $262.50

All other misc items I had on hand.

    End result:

    Thanks Matt.

Yeah, the dresser was a deal. Guy had it on CL forever so I just threw out the lowball offer and he bit. Mfg is Broyhill. Mostly solid woods with dovetailed drawers but there's some veneer over MDF (?) in a couple of places too. Overall, we're happy with it and figure we can get our $$$ back when we're ready to get rid of it.

The solid wood and dovetails make it definitely worth more than $100. Broyhill is well made.

I enjoy seeing peoples ingenuity. You should check out the home improvement thread. We have some skilled craftsmen on this site.

For some reason, I thought you were in your 30's for some reason @Taco-Bender. Hell, you have been married twice as long as I have..lol.

Lol... No, I'm one of the old timers on here. 56 to be exact.

Married 31.5 years. 2 freaking awesome adult children, 21 and 25. One's a teacher/swim coach and the other is a Combat SAR Flight Engineer/Gunner on HH-60's. Super proud of both of them.
