    Hi Fellow Tundra Owners!

    Journey: 2400-2600 Miles RT
Vehicle: 2015 Toyota Tundra SR5 TRD 4x4 Offroad CM (26 Gallon Tank)
    Trailer: 2004 Sierra by Forest River 28' - 6k dry (7k loaded)
    Mods: 3" w/ 35s on 18s and Magnaflow Exhaust.

Just thought I would share some details of my 16 day trip and get some insight on things to do.

I will be traveling from Orange County to Vancouver Canada with my travel trailer. My trip will consist of outdoor activities which include mountain biking. Along the way, I will be stopping at the following places:

    Take off - 08/11/18

    Big Sur
    Santa Cruz
    Napa Valley
    Crater Lake
    Portland
    Seattle
    Vancouver
and ultimately Whistler, which is the main point of our trip.

    Going Home

    Bend, OR
    Lake Tahoe or Mammoth
    Home

I would love some recommendation on places to ride (downhill preferred), breweries to visit and any place worth stopping by.

Please don't be afraid to say hi if you see my truck. License plate TRD MTB.

I will be sharing pictures of my trip and hopefully lots of Tundra pictures. The Tundra will not be doing any off-roading since it is my tow vehicle.

Most importantly, I will not be doing any type of business transaction while on vacation. I will still take orders but will not ship nor answer any questions regarding work until I get back from my trip. I value each and every one of you but please respect my decision to enjoy my vacation.

Santa Cruz was somewhat disappointing for us, we were passing thru, wouldn't go back. Pismo Beach was nice, wished we had spent more time there.

Pismo Beach is always nice but I have never been to Santa Cruz. Any particular reason it was disappointing? We have a site at the Redwoods.

the redwoods were nice, the coastal area was cheesy, carnival like.

Hood River, depending on traffic, is about an hour from Portland to the east. Check out Deschutes and Full Sail breweries. Also great river activities there as well. Hiking and biking around Mt Hood as well. Great views.

My family and I just did something similar the last two weeks: we towed a 30 ft travel trailer from Northern SD County as far as Eugene, OR and back. The fires really have things messed up. Consider rescheduling if possible. One day we drove for ten hours in nothing but smoke. Hate to be a downer, but the reality this month is pretty crappy. Stick to the coast if you can, but that's slow going.

Too many epic MTB rides on your route to list. Anything and everything in NorCal is amazing. Anything in the Coast Range with redwoods should be awesome too. Bend and Sisters, OR get good marks for MTB-ing, though I've never been to either. Downieville, CA (Sierra foothills) has some epic MTB races so I would assume a lot of good riding there too. Mt. Tam would be high on my list just so you can pay homage to the inventors of the sport. If it were me I'd just jump on Strava and look at heat maps to see what other folks are doing. Recommendations from local bike shops are always good too.

I should be able to visit those breweries on my way down to bend. We are for sure going to Deschutes.

Thanks! This is the helpful information I was looking for. Unfortunately I am unable to reschedule since everyone has to place vacation request ahead of time. We will make the best of it.

Same here, that's why we went ahead with the trip as planned. Hwy 1 along Big Sur only reopened in the last few weeks. You might score some good camping sites as a result. Maybe plan for a big push from the Bay Area all the way to Southern OR (Ashland or Medford) in one day to get the worst of it behind you?? Mendocino Complex and the Carr Fire are within two hundred miles of each other.

I'm trying to avoid driving the trailer on windy roads. We will be staying at the Redwoods in Santa Cruz and circling back to Big Sur. We are still debating on the route so we will play it by ear or fire. lol

Wind is no bueno for sure -- kind of unavoidable too.

Mammoth has great MTB trails plus camps in town for your RV.
I also like the town of Cambria along the coast , north of san luis obispo. Close to Hearst Castle.
From there you can take the coastal route to reach Big Sure but I'm not sure your trailer will fit in those windy turns.

Santa Cruz is ok. Only the boardwalk really. I would stop by Carmel and Monterey

I’m actually going down the 101 now and going to switch back over to the 5 when I hit Morro Bay. Just arrive in Santa Maria for lunch. Made a couple vista point stops.
