    Good "how to" vid.
Just recently install the Fumoto drain valve to my Tundra -- the plastic plunger that comes with the OEM filters works fine to drain the oil from the filter house JUST add a small section of hose to the plunger. I used a small section of liquid-tight flexible non-metallic conduit slipped right onto the plastic plunger, it was stiff enough to help fully insert the plunger with a mess

ACE is the place - pick up some clear tubing for the Fumoto. I keep a couple old 5 QT jugs and just drain directly into 5 QT jugs for easy transfer with no drain pan to transfer from or clean up - I use a drain pan ONLY as a catch a basin --- just in case there is a small amount of spillage

ON EDIT: as stated below --REMEMBER the pan holds 8.5 QT's so tend to your catch jug/pan

    Too many, but not enough....
I have these items on my truck and i have to say it was easily one of the best mods/money i could have spent. I changed my oil in 20 minutes the last time. longest part of using these is waiting for the draining, since its a tad slower than just having the pan open completely. Well worth it.

I do the same with the Fumoto. Keep in mind the Tundra holds 8 quarts. I put the jug under the Fumoto and stay with it until it fills, close the Fumoto replace the jug and drain the rest. I use a drain pan under the filter hose.

I have the same setup. It is super easy, but as mentioned above takes longer than normal due to the smaller drain. Warming the oil helps a lot. I don’t rush it, so it isn’t a big deal.

I'm just itching to change my oil - last time I did it I installed a ValvoMax. Thought about the Fumoto but heard it drains slower. May reconsider though if the ValvoMax starts to leak...

I just use a Sh!t load of news paper and water hose. :crapstorm:

Good thing I only have to change it once a year.

Three Toyotas in the driveway. FOUR Fumotos on them. Four? Yes. Four. The Tundra has the rare and elusive Jowett Performance aircraft aluminum oil filter cap that itself features a Fumoto drain valve in the bottom of it. Oil changes super easy peasy.

What makes you think the ValvoMax will leak and that the Fumoto is any better?

Just from reviews on Amazon and reddit - it's always a mixed bag. Figured if one leaks, then I'll at least try the other one before completely writing them all off.

    Thanks for posting.

Question: 5 quarts...windshield washer fluid or...? I'm drawing a blank here.

Good point. I completely forgot those were 5 quart containers. New truck dictates some new habits for me.

24 months free oil change has ended. I self-changed oil on my 2019 first time yesterday. What should have been a 30 minute job turned in to 3-hour ordeal. When dealership changed oil last time, they tighten the oil filer cap so tight I could not remove it, even with beaker bar. I had to use my numatic impact wrench at maximum setting to remove it. I was ready to order the replacement cap because I was sure I'll break it. Some lazy ass didn't even remove the locking tab. They just bent it back. Now, I'm wondering if dealership even changed the filer. Maybe they couldn't remove it either and just left it.

How does that work exactly? I'm having a hard time visualizing on the Jowett page. Ordering is weird, piece at a time instead of one package.

It takes the place of the metal circle thing so you can just drain via the Fumoto and then unscrew to replace the filter?

The drain faucet is an excellent idea. I made a big mess draining the oil, even with an oversized catch pan.
The filter housing cap and metal cap should be torqued to approximately 25 and 12 foot pounds.

I've had Fumoto valves on my vehicles for the last 15 years, never an issue. First thing I do to a vehicle when I get it.

I do add a little of the permatex high temp thread sealent 59235 to it before putting it on. I figure cheap insurance, am a big fan of the stuff. I actually add a whiff to most of my drain plugs and will use for my transfer case plugs when I do them.

See the new MotivX filter wrenches are different, no more making them fit over those flanges up high, a lot better now. Look cooler too..........

Same experience here. Mine had to be torqued to 130. I broke one cheap filter wrench. I used a 2'+ breaker bar and my neighbor had to hold my legs. One key with the filter wrench is to use a socket versus inserting the 1/2" drive. This is not necessary if the cap is torqued properly. Also the cheap filter wrenches are fine too if not over torqued. I was fortunate to have a metal cap ready to go. I destroyed the plastic one. I wrote the service manager an email describing what I went through and the fact that I was missing one skid plate bolt and another was not original. He replaced the bolts and asked if I wanted them installed. I said nope you all will not be touching my truck again. He also offered a new filter cap. In hindsight I should have taken it because I had same problem on son's Camry and had to buy a new cap.

Fumoto has a new valve that drains significantly faster. Its F133 instead of F103

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db304Qeo4tY

The Motiv X tools for the filter housing are definitely worth buying. Both the tool for draining the housing and the one for removing the housing.

This is the correct kit for a 2021? I assume nothing has changed but the kit linked in the original youtube vid is no longer available. I wonder if it will work on a 2021 4runner as well.

The two housing cap tool and the housing drain tool will both work on the 2021 4Runner.

As for the funnel, I think this is a better buy than the Toyota specific. Its a bit more expensive but it works on a bunch of vehicles. That said I just use this, also works very well on a variety of cars. Just have to be a little more careful.
