I have a 2021 Tundra with 13k miles on it. It’s been warm enough to have the windows down lately, and I’ve noticed a clanking sound coming from the (I think) rear passenger side. Sounds like someone is dropping a wrench on pavement.

It’s not consistent, but seems to happen when slowing down to almost a stop, or when speeding up from almost being stopped. Definitely not every time, only about 2-3 times a day. Can’t find anything when crawling under the truck, and can’t reproduce it to take it anywhere. Video of the noise attached. Any ideas?

Mine is a '14 and does the same thing usually when I start accelerating. I'm curious what others say, I've heard it was something with the ABS but who knows

I could see that. It typically seems to be on or just coming off of the brakes

Figured mine out! The TPMS sensor broke off and was loose inside the tire. The noise was when the perfect speed hit and it'd fall from the top of the tire onto the wheel. Too fast and it stuck, too slow and it stayed at the bottom. Somehow the sensor never quit working though.

Glad you figured it out! I had a similar sound that I couldnt figure out until recently. Turned out to be my spare tire. The tire is fastened with chains and dangles under my bed. Any movement in the suspension like going over speed bumps causes the spare tire to swing around and sometimes the chain taps the metal surrounding it.
