As some of you are aware, my FIL passed away late last night, and as expected- my wife is taking it rather hard.

I am far from religious, but she was raised Catholic and I’ll do anything in the world for her.

She’s looking to hold a mass with father’s memories and skip the “waiting” list. Can anyone here help with her with this wish?

It's tough losing a parent....I've lost both (cancer, they were smokers) and my wife lost her precious Mom a few years ago...hit her like a freight train.

We found a group in church who had weekly meetings called "Grief Share" and it was such a blessing and help. It's a national program and lots of churches have it. Basically, it's folks who've suffered lost loved ones and the program helps to deal with the level of grief. (There's denial, anger, depression, bargaining, and acceptance) Nobody goes through grief the same and you want to be supportive...sometimes she may want to talk for hours and hours and look at pictures and videos but sometime she may just want to be alone to process and think about things. She may be angry with God and even the person who died...and that's alright...we all have those thoughts and feelings. The Bible says "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." (Why? Because we are changed to having perfect bodies and minds and we get to finally see Him and He us, face to face!) I've heard pastors say "Our loss is Heaven's gain"

I'm praying for y'all...search for Grief Share on the internet, I think they have a website with a lot of free help.

I wasn’t aware, but am genuinely affected by this news. My family is all in GA and sometimes I wonder if I’m in the wrong state as my parents and grandmother get older and more brittle every day. News like your FIL passing makes my heart hurt

Sorry for the loss in the family, and I’ll do anything you guys need. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you or your wife need anything

Sean - sorry for your family’s loss. We aren’t in CO and aren’t Catholic (so not sure what the waiting list thing is) but we will certainly be praying for y’all.

When I heard about passing of her father other night, I felt horrible for your Queen. I can’t imagine what she is going through at this time.

This is what I know (from a friend):
Is your wife a member of any Parrish? She could stop by a local Parrish and ask to have a Mass Celebrated for a family member.
Since this is recent, and she may want the whole family to know there will be a Mass Celebrated on her Father, she has to ask for a card.

If your family needs anything, you know what to do. Give her our love and thoughts.

Sean, my condolences during this time, my wife and I have both lost our parents. It’s a difficult time.

We are Catholic but have not heard anything about a waiting list and do not know what this is.
