And seriously, I loathe drunk drivers, especially repeat offenders like the son of a bitch who did almost $3,000 in damage to my Tacoma...

I think that certain laws are too harsh, but I believe repeat offenders and people who kill as a result of driving drunk deserve to have the book thrown at them...

What sucks about the current laws is in many cases, one DUI can ruin a person's life in terms of being able to get a job...

If you get stopped in Texas don't be surprised if you get pulled out on a stop....ever. it's pretty common. I've been asked to step out many times when stopped. It's for safety reasons.

But those are choices THEY choose to make. Nobody did it to them.

Have you had to blow or do FSTs when sober?

Also, I once drove a rented a Nissan Frontier 95 MPH on the highway, going from OKC to DFW back in 2014...

I've done it sober and at different levels of intoxication.

***NOTE: I've done this for training purposes for cops to be certified for the breathalyzer and FST. Not for drinking and driving.

    Yeah...

The important thing is that I've never had a DUI, never lost my license for any reason (though I've been pulled over twice for minor moving violations), and will never drive drunk...

A couple of my friends have gotten DUIs, but they wise up after the first one and learn from their mistake...

I honestly think that texting and driving is a bigger danger than driving drunk...

Its about the same....only more people text and drive than drink and drive so the accident numbers are higher.

I got rear-ended by a texting driver in March 2015 ($1,200 damage to Tacoma) and side-swiped by a drunk driver in October 2015 ($2,600 in damage to Tacoma)...

2015 was NOT a good year!

I was rear ended in 2016 and it caused $2500 worth of damage by an unlicensed, uninsured, texting driver.....i wanted to beat her ass.....she could have at least totaled my damn vehicle. Would have had my Tundra sooner.

But my hitch went through her raptor and cracked her engine block. Serves her ass right

The texting driver who hit me was a very attractive 45-year old woman in a green 2006 Toyota Highlander. I don't know for sure if she was texting, but she took full responsibility, her license was valid, and her insurance was good so I didn't question it. Got a brand new RAV4 as a rental while my truck was being fixed...

The scumbag who hit me while driving drunk had insurance and a valid license, but lied and said I ran a stop sign. USAA saved my ass. They ate the cost of fixing my Tacoma, waived the deductible, and didn't raise my rates...

All of these are since September 2017...

I have a couple from 2006-2007 that are packed away...

    I have a full-blown LEGO habit!

But hey, considering heroin is the drug of choice around here, I think I've got the right idea!

I am currently saving up for the Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon, which has over 7,500 pieces and costs $800.

My parents are less than happy that I want to blow my money on such a thing, but since I'm saving up for it and plan on buying it outright without any financial assistance from them, they've more or less realized that they can't stop me.

I've got well over a grand invested in my collection, not including the Ferrari F430 Spider and Nitro Intimidator pickup truck I bought in 2006-2007 and haven't seen in about a decade. With the exception of that light blue VW Beetle ($110), which was a Christmas gift from my parents, I've purchased all of my LEGO sets with my own money.

Yes, I know I can barely afford it at times, but I've actually lost some weight since I started building LEGO models again. My parents would much rather that I spend my money on LEGOs than go out drinking with friends every other weekend!

There was a time between 2013 and 2017 when I drank like a fish. I've been overweight since 6th grade. I weighed anywhere between 260-270 pounds in 2016-2017. What really packed on the pounds was the hard liquor, and also the cheese! I'm addicted to string cheese!

I smoked weed once in 2015 when a friend offered it to me, but I've never done cocaine or any "hard" drugs. While I wholeheartedly believe that recreational marijuana should be made legal at the federal level, I've never been a drug person.

Beer, cheese, LEGOs, and Tacoma mods are my four biggest vices...

So, in 2016-2017, I tipped the scales at 260-265...

In February 2017, I had corrective eye muscle surgery to straighten my eyes and make my peripheral vision better. While I was recovering from the surgery, I didn't drink at all. After I was recovered, I largely laid off the hard liquor (though I still do shots with friends from time to time). By the time spring rolled around. I was down to 240!

The last time I weighed myself, I was 235 or 236. That's down from just over 260 less than a year ago!

Your parents are just looking out for you, but on the other hand a collector series millennium falcon would be awesome also :headbang: I can say I've spent my money on collector items which isn't exactly practical. If it makes you happy and it's helping you with losing weight and preventing you from having a serious drinking problem, then that's a pretty good deal.

I don't have a serious drinking problem. My biggest problem is weight loss...

Even before the LEGOs, I could go weeks at a time without drinking!

That's good you can go long periods without it. I'm not saying you have a serious drinking problem, but alcohol can become an addictive habit. I have a few people close to me that are full blown alcoholics and it can get out of hand quickly.

In your case, if it's helping you to lose weight that then that's also a very big positive.

So do you have any set plans when you might get the millennium falcon?
