Hello, new owner of a 2019 Tundra 1794. I love the truck, but as I have read the JBL system is just not premium as you would expect. This is the only thing that is disappointing to me. Each source seems to a varying sound output in terms of loudness. For some reason XM seems to get the loudest. Anyways are there any options just to change the factory sub? Leaving the original enclosure intact? If so what would be recommended in terms of sub and any harnesses that are needed. Just looking for a little more bass at the moment.
    Thanks
    Shawn

Welcome, Zoo! And nice looking truck.
If you're looking to upgrade the stereo check out this thread:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/upd...peaker-group-buy-valid-through-2-28-19.39104/

I know you mentioned that you'd like to keep the same sub enclosure but, I believe, Jame's sub enclosure drops right in where the factory is placed. I'm looking to do the speakers/sub upgrade this month.

Just a thought and hope this helps.

Welcome from San Diego. Check out tech12volt. You just missed the group buy but it’s still a great price for a quality product. Plug and play replacement for the stock sub

Does this sound better by just using the factory amp? Any option’s on just changing the sub on the original enclosure? Not a lot of free cash left. I purchased the bed cover and TRD exhaust system , which gets installed tomorrow. Then I have it going for the spray bedliner and ceramic paint protection. So my cash is strapped with all that. Will take me a min to recoup...lol. Just looking for the cheapest option at the moment. looking for a little boost in low tones. Likely down the road will start changing more audio components. Thank for the replies!

All the information is in the group buy thread. Yes, the new sub is dramatically better with the factory amp. To me, the rest of the speakers are adequate.

The stock enclosure is a major part of the problem, IMO.

A few people have swapped out just the sub with a new kicker sub inside the stock box. From what I remember, the reviews weren’t that great. And it’s not much cheaper than the Tech12volts system. I’d just wait and save up a few bucks and do it right the first time. Unless you plan on going crazy and replacing the whole system down the road..

Ok , I will likely then just wait a few months and give that a try....thanks for the assistance. I was just dumbfounded when I got home and messed with pairing my phone and playing music. I even got more concerned when I went to JBL site and it stated 440 watts. It almost seems ToyotaEntune limits the system with software/firmware.

Can't confirm but some stated that sound was better when streaming for some reason. Maybe more tweakable when streaming.

Don’t forget to adjust the equalizer settings for each audio source. That helped me quite a bit, long enough to bridge the gap until I got a new sub.
I thought about getting the speakers and amp upgrade but honestly the system is perfect for my needs now. I have two kids under 2 and when the volume is down, the sound is perfect. No excess bass, too much highs, etc. When the kids are out and the volume is up, you can really hear/feel the bass and the speakers keep up just fine.

Ok thanks , that’s all I need is just a little more low end. I did notice that each input has to be adjusted the other day. When I buy that sub from 12volts is it pretty standard as the directions say or any tips?

Yep, its really straight forward. Hardest part is removing the seat, which isn't really that hard... There is an entire thread on here that was created for the group buy. A lot of discussion, pictures, tips etc.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Just a FYI, was at Toyota getting the exhaust and bed cover installed. I mentioned the audio quality to the service desk person and he stated it is common complaint even on other model JBL systems(Sequoia, 4 runner, ect) . He said the best fix was to play things through USB instead of streaming. Lets just say you do get more loudness and low end response (not the best , but substantial increase over Bluetooth stream or radio)

I think the consensus here is to just throw a new 10 in the factory box
