Not Tundra related but had to share. Car wouldn’t run so customer had it towed to the dealer for warranty. Dealer asked for oil change receipts which they couldn’t produce(wonder why). Customer had it towed to my shop for engine replacement. Dumb asses!!

Oh yeah, I've seen that before and what's worse on a Range Rover years ago when I used to work at a Land Rover shop. guy run the car until it won't run anymore, had no oil in it, it's amazing how some people are clueless about their vehicles.

"What? You need to change the oil?" In my Dumbass voice.........

Had a Brainiac uncle who has passed, but was a very intelligent engineer. He worked all over the world. He was having trouble with an older F150 and more or less gave it to my dad. The dipstick was dry with rust on it!

The best part is this car is a lease so they have to fix it. And they are going to end up buying it when the lease is out.

LOL at least it didn't catch fire!

Sister in law buys a new car a few years ago. Decides to buy another one, I ask her "why". She states it's giving her problems and won't even start. I ask her what maintenance she's been doing to it. Looks at me with a blank stare, "what maintenance?". To that, I said "your dad's a mechanic, and you never once thought to ask him what you should do?" She just says "I thought he would bring it up". I ended the conversation right then.

This bothers me to no end. I’ve had that look from quite a few people when I’ve asked them that question. I’m sure a lot of us miss certain key maintenance items. But at least change the damn oil and check all your fluid levels, tire pressure etc.

So many people buy high maintenance vehicles but never think about the cost of that when they buy it. Like you buy it and it lasts forever.

I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I know my way around a car. It's amazing how people assume cars are made out of vibranium and runs on cold fusion!

An absolute necessity. I have a boat that I do annual oil changes with and I've grown to hate the task. Five hours later and 17 gallons of oil and I'm done. :(

I’ve done that. I didn’t trade it in because it needed new tires it just happened to work out that way. But my last two vehicles I had just happen to put on brand new rubber before I got a wild hair to get a new truck.

Gah! These are probably the same people which tell you to just reset the check engine light. It's all good if it's off.

I've seen that even with regular oil changes, but only with Valvoline or Amalie oil.

Mine were kind of coincidental, knowing I was going to be in the market for new vehicle, tread getting low, doing the math got newer vehicle a month or two earlier.

I did put some new rubber on a truck once, it got totaled about a month later (not my fault), was more upset about having bought new tires and losing them than getting totaled......
