I've watched several ceramic coating application videos and read several articles. It's seems pretty simple to apply. Wash, clay bar, wash, isopropyl wipe down, apply the coating. Why do people pay so much to have it "professionally" applied? What am I missing?

Anyone in here do it themselves? If so, what products are good what products are bad?

    Thanks!

Some have to be applied by an authorized installer for warranty, other than that, no idea.

Just had mine done professionally with Ceramic Pro. Looks great and like posted earlier, no washing for 7 days. Obviously no long term experience yet but my plan is to go back to my detailer once a year for a “refresh” of the coating. My words. No sure what it is actually called. Pricey at 1350. Included 2 step paint correction.

I’ll ask but from reading on the CP site, it appears a decon and then an application of their “lite” product. This is to retain warranty but I’m not interested in a warranty for this. I’ll work with my detailer on what is really needed. He is good and honest. Otherwise, @SouthBoundSteve , I would be paying you. :)

Got it. Yep, decon and reapply of the CP sport which I called “lite”.

Dropped it off late Wed and and picked it up today so he had it 6 days. On Friday afternoon they were still on stage 1. Bottom line I would think it is a 3 day process. Mine took longer because of the weekend and weather.

Jim I enjoyed learning the ins and outs of detailing. Professional or not I've learned a lot. I will be testing what I have learned on my wife's car soon, minus the quartz . Thanks for the pics . :D

I posted this on another forum but wanted accurate advice. What is the real advantage of ceramic coating my 16 CM. I drive thru car wash once a week and have it hand waxed months. I am handicapped so need to have it professionally applied.
