I was 100% ready to decline any and all options on my Tundra - my dealership just called me and tried selling me on the benefits of ceramic coating for the 21 Tundra that just arrived for me.
What’s the general consensus here on whether or not it’s worth it?

I declined as well because if you really want it, go to a reputable auto detailer and pay $1000 to have it done. Personally I wash and wax my car monthly, so it’s pointless.

Do not get from dealer. Most likely not a true ceramic coating. Prolly something they will spray on wipe off and charge several $100 for.
If true ceramic coating, Doubtful they prep or apply correctly.

Not from a dealer. Get it installed by a detailer professional or if you have the tools and facility you can do it your self.

Yet another response with the same advice. I am very satisfied with my ceramic coating, and am glad I had it done, but NOT by the dealer. There are several threads and posts on this site that will help you determine what to get and who to use. Just search for ceramic.

Decline, dealer will not polish the paint before applying the coating. I suggest reading up on ceramic coatings first and then deciding if its a good option for you. Like everything in this world their are tradeoffs to coating your paint.

    Lots of shenanigans.
Nay to the dealer, they tried to sell me on that shit. Turns out its some automatic carwash that "sprays" ceramic coating. I've also heard horror stories of dealerships doing it wrong and not fixing it.

    Echo here.
    No from a dealership.
    Yes DIY or professional detailer.
I did it with much help from a friend. 9 hour process, so 18 man hours.
Keep in mind, if you plan to run it through an automated car wash, you're wasting your time and money. Hand wash only.

I’m not completely sold on ceramic coatings, as in my opinion the same results can be had cheaper and easier.
That said, they do work. They’re not a snake oil type of product. A good one will do exactly what it’s advertised to do. Just not worth the expense and effort to me, but that’s just my opinion.

Regardless, never pay to have this or any exterior or interior coating done through a dealership. They most certainly will not use a quality product, nor will they apply it correctly. Don’t even let them wash it during make ready or during your service appointments. Never let a dealership touch your paint.
