I had min stolen a few years ago and they took the o2 sensor so I couldn’t even drive home. Insurance covered it and my job paid the deductible.

You said fire. Too much to hope the thief was horribly burned too?

Install long tube headers so no cats to steal.

Weld the bolts together so they can't unbolt it.

I live in Mesquite Texas. Stop by the Toyota dealership. The maintenance supervisor took me to the back and show me all the vehicles that has been hit for their Catalytic Converters. Couldn't believe it. Even at the dealerships

Wait a minute...your truck caught fire a while ago, right? You started this thread about it over a month ago. And now someone cut your fuel lines while stealing your catalytic converters, causing your truck to catch fire again?

Pardon us if we seem skeptical...

Someone clarify if I'm wrong, but the cats are not close to the fuel lines.... this would clearly be an accident waiting to happen.

I would be super mad, too. If you decide to get another Tundra, then yes, there are ways to protect your cats.

    1. Valhalla's Shield. Here's his thread. He does front and rear plates to protect all four cats. I have his rear plate on order.

    2. . He is making plates for several TX dealers. It seems he's pretty backed up for now. I have his plate on my truck, which is why I only ordered the rear plate from Valhalla's Shield.

    3. Your third option is to call local muffler shops and see if they'll weld some rebar around your cats or weld some chains to the cats and the frame.

In the meantime, be mindful of where you park your Tundra. They seem to get hit in parking garages, behind buildings, and places with less visibility and/or no security cameras.

Have a buddy of mine that drives a wrecker in California. Said a very large part of his job is picking up vehicles with the catalytic converters cut out. One of the cops told him they were getting around 600 a converter selling them as scrap metal.

Forgive my ignorance but if there was a theft deterrent skid plate for the cats, why wouldn't they sawzall the plate if they really wanted the cats?
